Adebayor To Miss Roma Clash

Arsenal will have Emmanuel Adebayor missing for this week's trip to Rome to take on Roma in the first knockout stage of the Champions League.

Adebayor has been missing from action since injuring his hamstring in the 0-0 draw with Tottenham earlier this year, but it had been hoped the leggy Togan would be ready for action, but sadly he didn't make it.

''Adebayor definitely won't be able to play, but I will wait to see what the report is on Kolo before I decide what my starting XI will be.' Confirmed Wenger

Our beloved football club has been awash with injuries for as long as I can remember now, but, touch wood, we have lots of key players coming back to action at a vital part of the season.

It does appear there is light at the end of the tunnel.

As much as i hate Ade Barndoor i think it's about time he started delivering this season in the important games... hopefully competition for places will help.

Whilst not intending to join the Adebayor Bashers club, I am kinda relieved that he's not fit for this match. His presence in the team has engendered a lazy resort to predictable long balls which does not allow the team to play to its considerable strength and has made us both predictable and easy to beat. I could go on and on about other reasons why I'm not going to miss him, but suffice to say that becoming an automatic first choice striker is not a responsibility he has carried well. He's fast becoming Henriesque without the talent and arrogance is a horrible vice in a striker incapable of taking more than one in five chances or creating any chance on his own. I sincerely hope the emerging competition for striking positions in the team will help him rediscover his undoubted capacity for hard work which coupled with the creative midfield of last season made his conversion rate seemingly high last season. Thierry I know, Bergkamp I know, Ade who?

Not at all bothered by this. We don't miss him. It's not his form, it's his effort -- if he was back at the same level of workrate in previous seasons, even with few goals, then I'd say we do miss him simply because he causes problems for defenders even without scoring. But a striker who doesn't score AND doesn't put in any effort, who shakes his head while putting his hands to his hips because he hasn't gotten great service from teammates is not a player we need at all.

Well said Jaelle, his attitude stinks and he's suddenly Mr. Biggs because he made a mark last season. Whilst wishing to refrain from knocking him, the truth is, once you take away the effort, he's inferior to most strikers in the top half of the Premiership. For someone as tall as he is, he does'nt score enough headed goals, can't control a ball to save his live and certainly misses more than he scores. We are better off without him in his current incarnation, Henry he aint!!

With Eduardo, Vela and RvP finding the back of the net,I don't think we'll miss Adebayor that much anyway.
