Kolo In 'Not Friends With Gallas' Shocker

Kolo Toure has revealed that his relationship with fellow central defender is strictly professional after tension between the two almost saw the Ivorian leave Arsenal in the transfer window.

It was reported that Kolo had handed in a transfer request in in Janurary after rumours that his relationship with Billy had broken down completely leaving Toure feeling like he had no option. However it now seems as though the problems have been repaired to an acceptable level for the defender after he admitted they never got on.

'Many problems occurred and made me want to move on, at the start of the season I didn't play a lot and I felt that it was the right moment to go.' Said the Vice-captain.

'There were some problems between the players but this must remain an internal matter because I'm not the kind of man who creates controversies.'

'I have changed my mind and I hope I will stay at the club. My relationship with William has improved but it's just a professional relationship. We never got on well together. I'm friends with Johan Djourou, with Emmanuel Eboue, with Gael Clichy but it's not the same with William. It's the same within every company, you can't be friends with everybody.'

It's not exactly a revelation that the pair aren't friends, and as long as they perform on the pitch then it shouldn't really matter, however if, as he says, these matters should remain internal then I see little reason for Kolo to make this statement.

It is better to keep ones mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and be confirmed one. Kolo should have kept his trap shut. Andy Cole and Teddy Sherringham were not exactly the best of friends, but they did their business together with minimal fuss. The last thing we need now is Kolo giving the already biased press further amunition with which to fan the embers of hatred. No one asked him to marry Gallas, just play the game for which they both earn fortunes.

Any danger of a legit source here Paul?

Have to agree deledudu, wish they would keep quiet especially as sports writers, (s.it writers) are looking for any excuse to knock us. Thought Theo had done the same about Villa but as usual they took his remarks out of context. Would love us just to go under the radar for a while.

unfortunately it shows on the pitch... Djourou partnered with either of them has proven to be better than the Toure-Gallas partnership.

I don't expect footballers to be rocket scientists, but you'll think that with the thingly disguised hatred of Arsenal endemic in the press, our players would allow their skills to speak for them instead of yakking all over the place like Maureenho!
