Arsenal Face Villarreal In CL Quarter Final

Arsenal have drawn Villarreal in the quarter final of the Champions League.

The Gunners dispatched Italian side Roma in the first knockout stage to set up the tie with the Spanish outfit.

The last time Arsenal took on Villarreal in the Champions League was the first time either club have played in the semis with Arsenal emerging victorious after that memorable last minute penalty save from cult hero Jens Lehmann.

Should we make it through to the semi finals w we will face either Man Utd or Porto.

Draw in full:
Villarreal vs Arsenal
Man Utd vs Porto
Liverpool vs Chelsea
Barca vs Bayern Munich

Semi Final Draw:
Man Utd or Porto vs Villarreal or Arsenal
Barca or Bayern Munich vs Liverpool or Chelsea

Is it just me or has all the British media just gone crazy about Liverpool just because they beat Real Madrid and Man Utd by 4 goals? With their second leg not at Anfield, I don't think it's gonna be that easy for them.

Am pretty satisfied with that. We'll probably make it tricky for ourselves but we have a great chance of the semis and beyond. Woo-hop!

It won't let me log into my account and I know three others who are having the same problem. The system must have crashed. Just like it did for the 07 Carling Cup Final. And the 06 CL Final. And for the league clincher at WHL.

Chuffed with this draw! 2ng leg at home, Bobby P coming back, avoid lucky/defensive/teams with Messi in the Semi's, Liverpool or Chelsea out before the semi's, Liverpool not getting the 2nd leg at Anfield (rooting for the Chavs). Rocky, which of them said we'd get to the final besides Charie?

Done now shewore, we were trying (correctly) to buy with Away Scheme memberships. It's clear the club forgot to activate these for the ticket sale. ******** amateurs. And yes, a massive booking fee to boot, paying for a service that was denied us for about half an hour. Nobs.

I don't think there is an easy draw in this competition now but pyschologically we must feel positive. Villareal are not to be underestimated but it should be a good contest if we have the key players available. How must 'pool and chav fans be feeling about their draw?
Amos.

Pity we have to sit through the boring yawndom of yet another Liverpool v chelski CL tie. Pool v Mancs would've been far more interesting. Arsenal and ManU came out of this draw pretty well. Bet chelski are a bit sick- liverpool and barca in same half of draw, haha!

Nice one Jimmy. Reckon Thompson is just saying that due to his hate for Utd.
I actually like the Chelsea-Liverpoo CL games. Usually has so much animosity and I like watcing knowing one of them will be knocked out. Think Barca-Bayern will be good, glad I cant watch them both.

I'm hypnotising myself by repeating "Let's not get ahead of ourselve, let's not get ahead of ourselves, ..." in my head. And yes, we'll have Bobby (and Pascal) back! Hope they'll have a part to play in the 2 legs. I'm also pleased that we get a home tie in the 2nd leg for a change. And re Liverpool-Chelsea, what are you talking about it being boring? Surely you won't watch that will you?! And now I'm going to any betting company that has already started offering the odds for goals > 2.5 for Barca-Bayern.

** Walcott out for rest of the season ** - Times have just released breaking news. A knee injury in training. Not ideal at all but if the est of our players can stay fit we have the players to deal with this I feel, especially with Eboue enjoying a bit of feel good factor from the fans.

Wenger said in his press conference "hopefully it isn't serious." You'd expect he'd miss tomorrow and the 2 England games next week. Fingers crossed for 2 weeks time.

this is just out on Arsenal.com “Walcott got injured today in training,” Wenger said. “We have to test it, he has a scan on his knee today. “We are surprised and worried. He was in very good form coming back and that is very bad news for us and for England. “For the rest of the season might be too long, but he’s out of tomorrow’s squad and he could be out of the England squad. “He locked his knee so it could be a cartilage problem. He did it walking back from training. He was fully normal during training but maybe it only came out when he stopped. “We have to see how he responds today and I hope it’s not really serious.”

You're not seriously saying Eboue is an adequate replacement for Walcott are you? Walcott gives us width, precision and speed. Eboue gives us headless chicken dramatics. This couldn't have happened at a worst time.

Bobby is equally confident and, rather than feeling "weird", thinks it's a very "special" occasion to face us. Surely the home crowd will give him a great great reception: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/arsenal/article5945089.ece

Yep. Bobby Pires deserves a very warm reception IMO. A very fine player for this club. But I always smile when I remember that "creative"penalty attempt between him and Thierry. It would've been talked of for years if it had come off. Those were the days- arrogance and swagger and a feeling that with players like those 2 on the pitch ANYTHING could happen. But no harm to you Bobby I hope we scalp you!

Exactly, Pires was a great player from Arsenal and one of those we acutely missed over the past 2-3 seasons. I'm sure he will get a terrific ovation, not just a warm reception.

Yeah Prits, we're only STARTING to truly replace him and Freddie with AA and Nasri now, with Theo and Eboue also growing into their role. We can't say we've replaced those 2 legends until AA/Nasri/Theo/Eboue actually bang in a few more goals on a regularly basis. That's how great Bobby was!

Decent draw for us, Chavs vs pool 2nd leg just before the FA Cup semi final should be nice and draining for them aswell. Obvioulsly Villareal will be very pumped up after us knocking them out last time we faced them and the manor in which we did so. If we get United in the semis then Its all to play for, we'll probably have to beat them a minimum of 3 times in 1 season to pick up silverware, thats the challenge and weve got to believe!

That's why I keep reading Myles Palmer. He does have his more than fair share of tosh (I once went several months without reading him), but he writes sensible stuff every so often. I don't like the thing people have of bashing him;if you think he is crap (and admittedly, he very often is), then why do you keep going there?
