Arsenal - Arshavin Still Not Settled

Arsenal's four goal hero from the outrageous Liverpool match, Andrey Arshavin, says he still needs time to settle in to life with the Gunners.

Double A's impact in North London was almost instant, completely vindicating the trouble went through to bring him to Arsenal in the January transfer window, climaxing (so far at least) with a hat-trick +1 at 'fortress' Anfield in an astonishing 4-4 with the Mickeys last Tuesday.

Despite this astonishing feat, Andrey still realises that his performance (can't believe I'm about to say this) wasn't that great, and that it will take more time before he's completely settled.

"If you look at the first half you never saw me except for one moment when I scored," he said. "It is difficult for me but I will try and I need time.' said Arshavin.

"Everybody else is common (I assume he means 'familiar') to play with each other. I still have to go through pre-season and after that everything will be in a good place."

If he still needs time to settle and is our joint 3rd top scorer in the league with 6 goals in 8 games this season, then I really can't wait to see him play next year.

It least Andrey has some proper perspective on the overall performance against Liverpool and recognises what he didn't do as much as what he did. It encourages me even more that his intelligence will be a great asset over the next couple of seasons.

Amos.
Sentiments echoed Amos. I was fairly confident that AA would work himself to the bone to become a success in England. He had had enough of being the big fish in a small pond and now he wants to rule the waves. I'm convinced Arshavin is a player motivated by being the best footballer he can be rather than the richest, and that can only serve well for our beloved team.

Unlike a lot of our team *cough* Adebayor *cough* he doesn't open his mouth and make a prat of himself, he says things for a reason and they are usually sensible and intelligent.

Does anybody else think he should be upfront in a true 'number 10' role. I know we have a lot of talented strikers... but I think his consistency and talent should be used playing that role.

Nice to hear that AA has his feet on the ground, I suppose that's due to his age, and mental attiude. I agree he's going to work hard to improve himself, and help improve the team's chances next season.

TP, Arshavin himself wanted the #10 shirt. Of course he should have it, it's ridiculous that Gallas has it. Arshavin's attitude is so above that of some of our own players.

Exactly Amos, AA isn't only intelligent, I like his honest assessment of his own performance as well. I know I'm running out of superlatives but this guy is indeed special. I also agree with TP that the No. 10 role seems to suits him best. And if Arsene plays in there a bit more, the best is yet to come from this guy.

I also pray he is not infected with our injury bug next season. Its really depressing and you wonder if it has to do with training, physio or the quality of our medical team? Is Gary Lewin still with us cos I heard he is just doin England now. Could that be responsible? We cant afford to lose 2/3 players to injuries after every game and expect to win a trophy. Best of luck to Rosicky, agreed with LD on him not playin for us anymore mostly out of disappointment on his continued non-availability due to injury and our patchy early season form.
