Brice was busy with school work and I was busy with mom and grandma today. Sorry about the lack of a match preview. Here are the team lineups:

The most interesting absentees are Almunia and Arshavin, while Adebayor, Djourou, Bendtner, Denilson and Eboue are left on the bench.

Denilson, Aaron Ramsey, Johan Djourou, Vito Mannone, Emmanuel Adebayor, Emmanuel Eboue, Nicklas Bendtner

Petr Cech; Mikel, Alex, John Terry (c), Ashley Cole; JosÚ Bosingwa, Michael Essien, Frank Lampard; Florent Malouda, Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka

Branislav Ivanovic, Franco Di Santo, Michael Ballack, Salomon Kalou, Juliano Belletti, Henrique Hilario, Michael Mancienne

Predictable wasn't it?
don't know why anyone expects anything else - we have no end product - wasted chance after wasted chance - our team consist of a bunch of good players - not enough world class. 4th is the best we can hope for every season
This is depressing......has reached a degree of indifference
i agree but not been smart, expect a busy sumer for wenger if ye want to challenge 4 big name players to slot in should be a start
tell her keeper dont leave the 6 yard box be a lot safer
This is embarrasing, truly embarrasing.
Let's not turn this into yet another summer thread - we have other places in the forum for that. The 1st and 3rd goals were bad luck. But buildup =/= goals. I feel like we're watching the Arsenal of 2006-07.
Thing is, Chelsea haven't even done anything exceptional to be in this position.
This is the sort of game that screams out loud for AA, and I'm screaming too.
Exactly Vin, that's why I wouldn't call this one an 'embarrassment' as the guys are suggesting in the match thread in the forums. There's performance and there's scoreline. At least we're trying hard despite going 3 goals down, something that we didn't do enough against ManU.
Lou - we can't keep blaming luck on our ineptitude. There's a malaise through this team, a lack of real mental and physical toughness, that means we're unlikely to win anything for some time. It's not even down to individuals, this team is too focused on playing 'the game we love' rather than let's win this game and then do the nice stuff. Sorry, I know this is a bit of a rant!
I can see the Spuddies coming lol!
Yeah even I can't keep defending Arsene on the steel thing.
why is not AA playinn clearly yer best player
A CB and even a DM please. I've been a long-terms supporter of Song and Denilson, and I think they've been excellent this season. BUT we are clearly best in a 4-4-2, and in order to dominate midfield and provide for our positionally advanced offensive midfielders (Nasri/Arshavin/Theo etc), we need a more dynamic type of DM. Our midfield was so much more balanced last season with Flamini, even than when we had Gilberto, who was excellent. Vieira, of course, was another example of a dynamic, dominating midfielder with whom our midfield thrived. Fabregas doesn't have the stamina, agression and overall physicality to really prevent an opposing team exploiting the space between our midfield and defence, and neither quite does Song, although his positional sense is such that he doesn't often need to make up much ground. Denilson is the opposite in that respect; he's got the energy and agression, but tends to wander forward at times and leave space behind him, space which the likes of Fabregas is unwilling to temporarily fill.
in peace this time
123 AA's out with flu. In a way the team's creative problems have to an extent been addressed, but that solution is ill today.
Everything that is wrong with this team has been evident in this performance. Time for a makeover me thinks.
Is it just me who thinks Bendtner is our most efficient striker now?
Lou - I agree - until a fully-fit Eduardo returns :-)
I'm sorry guys, I know people do like and rate hime, but I'm also not completely convinced by Fabianski - he doesn't seem to have a calmness about him
Sorry to talk about transfers already by the way. I know it's annoying, I just find our problem rather fascinating and got a bit bogged with the 3-0 scoreline.
I agree gooner_vin. I like his attitude, and he's got good reflexes, but doesn't have the pressence or confidence when it comes to claiming crosses. By the way, I'm really starting to curse my lack of pace. If I was as quick as Walcott, I might be an Arsenal player now! Sorry, I like the guy, but his technique is just aweful at times, and against top defenders such as here, he is very predictable.
nice dive
This hurts
def with bentner an aday more problems for chelsea to deal with
he was off side when ball was kicked off post
You know what peeves me off is the way that Arsene comes out with all this stats to present a positive spin on things when we it's obvious to all why we're not good enough
Quite an embarassing week in our history. Roll on the summer so I can watch some cricket and forget about this dreadful end to the season :(
imo ye have good sqaud of players but not good enough last month you can clearly see this, but add few quailty players like AA in certin position, with the squad now can only improve an take the next step forward.
The scoreline flattered to decieve, Drogba's antics, an offside goal and a penalty shout, but that doesn't negate from the fact that we have huge deficiencies.
Actuallu, just seen the replay ..... Adebayor has been watching Drogba!
Despite what Arsene says, we are miles away from Man Utd
At least the guys in red put up a fight.........
That was truly dreadful to watch. The opening was so promising, then it all fell apart. In the past two weeks we've lost 8-2 in three games to our closest rivals. I think we're going to be in for a long Saturday at Old Trafford.
lol, why is fabregas absent from your "young player of the year" poll? Isn't he about 23?
i think the difference was in finishing between us and Arsenel. You guys created a lot earlier on but didn't score while Chelsea took most of the chances and result is a flaterring scoreline. Anyway, you guys have a good team. Good luck next season. But hey, turn up next week a beat manure. I would rather see poo win pl then manure.
lads - you need to spend big - you're shoved to one side too easily by the power teams!
Best of luck for the next season
As embarssing as it is to lose by such a big margin again, not to mention dissapointing, i was just sitting there empty more than anything. Im almost glad we lost because if we were to gain victories over Chelsa & United the manager probably would not have changed anything for next season and convinced us we have the right team. Hopefully with this loss he will realise we are lacking badly in 1 or 2 departments and go out and spend the cash. I also hope after another embarassing Adebayor performance he shifts the big togo man out for 20 mil and we replace him with Etoo, Villa, Benzema or someone of that calibre
why was cesk up top again? why was diabi on the left............ again? why do we play van persie?
Come on, does anybody think that Ade is worth more than 10-15m? We won't make that much out of him. I would be pleased to see him go for 13m and even throw Diaby in for free. I just can't stand the laziness and complacency he has always shown. Having said that, I don't believe anyone will come for either of them. As for the rest of the squad, I wonder if we'll see Van Persie with us next season, as I believe he will move on. He has one year left (I think) and we can probably get some money from his sale. Overall I think AW should reshuffle the squad so that some bad influences from the "senior" players should be removed. It is the lack of ambition that is preventing this group from performing.
Seriously, I'd rather have Vela in LM than Diaby. Don't remember who said this: he tends to give us one great game every 5 flat ones. I don't know the reason why Arsene's sticking with him is that he's thinking he's gonna play a blinder this time. Sort of like me thinking at a bus stop, "The longer I've waited here, the closer I am to seeing the next bus come."
Why the ***** you lot are so depressed i cant understand, yeas we lost but we did not deserve to loose 1-4, they took their chances and we did not, end of story. I watced the game and I saw many positives in it, we could, with a bit of luck have been ahead after 10 min, they get a freekick from a drogba dive and score, even after that we could have come back and scored but alas our finishing let us down again. The real blame can be left at Wengers door, why he doe's not make changes until well into the second half I'll never understand, when Nicky came on and later Denilson and Ade we looked a much better team, and leaving Diaby on instead of Walcott WTF was that about?
Please guys, we can talk about the players' merits or lack of them here. But let's try (a bit harder) to leave the summer targets out of this. There's transfer threads and wish lists already in the forums. Thanks.
I can't really tell who I want to come in. I would just be very pleased to see Diaby and Ade out . Both are bad influences for the younger ones. And Armory, I'm depressed because Chelsea played us the way they played everyone recently: hand over the initiative and catch them on the break. I think we are fartther away from the top 3 than the table suggests. Thats all.
We were let down by poor finishing (mainly from Walcott) and poor defending, but on the plus side we did create a lot of chances. We didn't deserve to lose by such a huge margin, but the team does lack a bit of quality in certain areas. I think a centre back has to be top priority but I'm sure AW already knows that and probably a defensive midfielder. I don't think we're that far away from having a great squad and I don't feel too down after that result.
The only difference was that Chelski scored they chances, and We didn't, it was as simple as that. I can't believe that some of us are getting so negative! Yes, it hard to see that score- line and not feel hurt.
Bit of a letdown really, we were perhaps unfortunate to be 2-0 down at half time, but I was really looking for a reaction in the 2nd half, the game was gone but I wanted a few players to stand up and show they are good enough. But we had to wait for Nicklas Bendtner to come on before we saw any player stand up and show some pride. Worth mentioning that he has as many goals fromopen play as RvP this season, not that he'll get any credit. Rvp, Toure, Sagna, I was looking for something from these more experienced guys and they were all a massive let down. I can't believe RvP and Adebayor weren't sparked into life by the fact that Bendtner came on and put them both to shame. Adebayor was loudly booed when he came on and had his car vandalised by Arsenal fans this week. He just has to go now, he doesn't get this football club one bit and he's totally lost it. His diving was more becoming of the opposition today, who are a real team of despicable characters. Ade belongs with them, cos he's a moron and I don't want him at this club anymore and neither does anyone else by the sounds of the reception he got today.
Little Dutch
Its not the score that hurts, its deceiving and thats apparent. The problem I have is that this squad has failed to raise to the big challenges consistently over the past 3 seasons. The EXACT SAME thing happened towards the end of last season, we lost to Chelsea & ManU when it mattered. Same happened this season. There isnt any progress on the issues that count, and thats a matter of concern. I'm not one who screams for big name signings or even trophies, but what I DO want to see is PROGRESS. Every year that goes by with this squad repeating the same mistakes is actually a REGRESSION, and not even stagnation.
Spot on LD, Bendtner was the one who even tried as soon as he came on against ManU. Really looks to have some purpose. His finishing will improve, but he certainly gives us more than Ade now. I've had the same feeling about Ade for the past month or so now, that he has to go. I was a staunch defender of his, but he's been such an unbelievable let down this season, even though his stats look decent.
no credit then. out muscled, out powered, out fought, out classed, chelsea didnt get out of 2nd gear.something desperately wrong with your lot!!
arshavin got flu?? did he catch it off vela??
Ade had his car vandalised by Arsenal fans this week? That's the kind of things Italian 'fans' do. There's no need for that, or for the booing, but I agree, he has to go. Was it telling that Wenger didn't play him today? That comment he came out with "Arsenal made me one of the biggest strikers in the world" encapsulates everything that has been wrong about him this season. He thinks he's made it to the upper Echelons. We're not that far away but something tells me it's not just about adding a couple of players - there's a mentality issue at the club that needs dealing with before they win the big games and ultimately trophies.
He is a big moron. I just hope we have not lost the opportunity to sell him for a decent price now. He actually had a bit more running in him today and put some effort in, but let himself down with what looked like a dive. I am keen to see it on tv, but if it was a dive along with the laziness, Big ego, Arrogance and rubbish he comes out with then he can have a one ticket out of London.
NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ARSENAL, IN WORSE PLAYER ORDER.... Bentdner Eboue Fabianski Van Wet Cardboard Persie Gibbs Song Denilson Almunia Song Diaby Walcott Adebayor I'd keep Sagna, Fagregas, Arshavin, Eduardo, Gallas and Vela..the rest can go!
Orange Quadrant
Ade's car wasn't smashed up, but messages were daubed on it about him being lazy. Perhaps he'll get the message that he's not the deity he thinks he is.
Little Dutch
hahahaha. why did yal start with van persie without a real strike partner? just stupid! bendnar only one who looked decent for yal today. but toure scored a nice goal
and yal could of won if walcott could finish anhything and diaby didnt steal it from fabregas, that was rediculous
vela makes diaby look like *****, doesnt he deserve the starting spot?
Springy...are you serious ???.....Outclassed ??....did you see the game ?...Chelsea scored 4 goals...that was their the only superior area....There were long periods in the game when Chelsea could not even get the ball. At times Cheslea were cut open like a kipper and if not for our inept finishing we could have had six. Don't kid your mate...Chelsea were not that superior.....just in the finishing...thats all...
Humiliated in front of a 25000 crowd for the last ten minutes. I went into the Megastore and asked for a Chelsea shirt. The guy wonderedwhat I was on about. "Because chelsea own this place now" I said. Because it's true. Except we may have to fight it out with Hull for full ownership...
lol Squiddy not that a chelsky fan would know what a 25000 crowd looks like and as for your new found friends, Hull, it looks like you have to go back to the championship to visit them next season.
im pleasantly surprised with the reaction towards ade in this forum, i thought i was the only one who questioned his commitment since last season. yes he scores a few goals, but given the opportunities he is provided each game, he should score a lot more. i counted a dozen offsides per game simply from his laziness to get back into position. we CAN do better, there are OTHERS who really want to play for us and not think that they already are a Thierry Henry or one of the best strikers in the world. in fact its okay even if we do not add any more strikers and give the likes of bendtner and vela more chances to partner either eduardo or arshavin up front. bottom line is we need to shake up the team and let them know that "Arsenal will be patient and wait for your development as a player but only if you show commitment and willingness to work hard for your team". Otherwise you can f* off. i think 80% of the current problem is ATTITUDE.
armory, we will soon see what what a 90,000 crowd looks like!!
I think Arsenal suck.
radar man, chelsea a a better team all round mate, get real!
are a *
You reckon springy? It's just Chelsea don't have a good record of selling out showpiece events. The semi final went on general sale.
Little Dutch
Springy...Yes I would agree that Chelsea are a better team all round...but all this outclassed ,outmuscled out this , out that, is all utter bullocks...If that game finished 4-4 no Chelsea fan would have said they were robbed.....Clown !!!
"I think Arsenal suck" JT_daniel As we have already seen, your statements and opinions mean squat. We'll take this one with the pinch of salt it deserves also.......
Hey, I got carried away with our win. I've already apologised in the other thread. I'll do it again. I'm sorry, okay?
It was made long before you apologised on the other thread so relax fella...It's all good.
Cheers, LG!
I know what a 25000 crowd looks like, thanks. And thanks for lying about the semi-final going to general sale - simply not true as a few friends of mine know.
