Ramsey Signs Contract Extension With Arsenal

Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey has penned a new long term deal after only one season with the Gunners.

The young Welshman arrived at Arsenal from Cardiff last summer despite being courted by a number of England's top clubs, the reigning Premier League champions being the main rivals. However, the personal touch from Arsene Wenger sealed the deal.

Ramsey played 22 times for Arsenal last year showing some delightful touches for such a young man. The highlight of his season came after he bagged himself a Champions League goal in the 5-2 away victory against Fenerbache, pinging one in off the post from 20 yards.

Arsene Wenger was delighted with the signature, "We`re delighted that Aaron has signed a new long term contract. He made a very good contribution in his first season and he showed that he is a very intelligent player with great quality. He is still only 18 and we`re really looking forward to seeing him develop with us in the forthcoming years."

Good move by Wenger to tie him for long period

Well in Rambo! Good news for Wales, good news for The Arse and a double dose of happiness for me! Woohoo! 8-)

I think it's always a good idea to get these talented young fellers tied down for a long while, especially if they're not playing regular. Young players these days tend to get itchy feet rather quickly and by getting them to sign long term contracts we're protecting our investments. Synical I know, but true nonetheless.

I agree with Rocky7, it's a very good idea to sign-up Ramsey on a long term contract. I hope he plays more games for us maybe in the Carling Cup, FA Cup and maybe on the bench for the 1st Team once in a while. Well Done Aaron.

Young Jack has done the same, great stuff: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11670_5412143,00.html

I like the look of Ramsey. He always wants the ball, and uses it intelligently. He will benefit greatly from a run in the team and it would do his confidence the world of good. There is nothing to stop him from pushing Denilson and Song for a place in the team. Good luck Aaron.
