Defender Signs On At Arsenal

Arsenal's current contract extension epidemic continued today after last seasons rising star Kieran Gibbs signed a new long term deal.

Gibbs was asked to fill in at left back in the first team last season after regular defender Gael Clichy was ruled out for the season with a fractured ear lobe.

Arsène Wenger copied and pasted his sentiments: "Kieran made such a great impact last season and the progress he made throughout the year was fantastic. Kieran is an intelligent player with huge quality and he proved last season with his performances that he has great potential. We`re delighted that Kieran has committed his future to Arsenal and we`re all excited to watch his future development at the Club."

Kieran made 21 first team appearances last season, and despite a costly slip in the 2nd leg of the Champions League semi final Gibbsy performed brilliantly after being thrown in at the deep end, and won the support of gooners everywhere.

Nice one Kieran .... I guess we better get you your own article picture now!!

The youngsters are signing on thick and fast and that is a good omen.

Now we just need to Robin to put pen to paper and everything will be hunkydory!
Rocky7
I thought Kieran outdid Ramsey and Jack in terms of development if you consider the amount of big games he played in. Very well done! :)

Congrat Kieran, on signing a long term contract, He deserves it after floating so well, after getting throw in at the deep-end so to speak. And like mention above I too would like to see RvP put pen to paper. Are the 1st players back in training yet?!

The Gibbs article on Arsenal.com says that in addition to the 3 kids featured, Woo-kash Fabianski has also signed a new deal with the club. Nice to see they've moved promptly in securing our younger generation - Gazidis keeps telling us he's hard at work eh? Let's hope he/they're moving equally fast on some 'proper' signings.

We have made a "porper" signing GL - Vermaelen - and we will make another in Chamakh when Adebayor is sold. After that, who knows? But I don't thinkw e need anyone. What I would do is get rid of Diaby and Silvestre with better back up players coming in.

well done Lou on pointing out that Lukasz is indeed pronounced "Wookash" - nobody ever seems to get that right. (and of course that's going to make all the difference ahead of next season...

Lou, Fabianski signed his deal quite a while ago I believe!!
Rocky7
Oops hehe, I just copied it from the article. Yes come to think of it, Wookash indeed signed the deal a bit earlier. Btw, hello from my new notebook (yay)! :D

The Independent says Robin has also signed a new deal which lasts till 2014: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/van-persie-commits-to-arsenal-until-2014-1731349.html

Tom, I wouldn't be so harsh as to call Vermaelen a "porper" signing!
