Gunners Get Favourable Champions League Draw

Gunners Get Favourable Champions League Draw

The draw for the group stages of the Champions League were made this afternoon, seeing the mighty Gunners get a very favourable draw indeed.

With Arsenal being one of the top seeded teams there stood a very real possibility of drawing some of the biggest teams in Europe with the likes of Real Madrid & Inter Milan only seeded in the second pot.

The Gunners overcame all those hurdles and were paired with AZ Alkmar, Olympiakos and Standard Liege.

The old adage goes that there are no easy games in the Champions League, but Arsenal must certainly be favorites to go through.

We can also be thankful for the geography of the draw, now I didn't do that well in geography at school but if I remember rightly Olympiakos will be the furthest tie when Arsenal travel to Greece.

Draw in full:

Group A: Bayern Munich, Juventus, Bordeaux, Maccabi Haifa.
Group B: Manchester United, CSKA Moscow, Besiktas, Wolfsburg.
Group C: AC Milan, Real Madrid, Marseille, FC Zurich.
Group D: Chelsea, Porto, Atletico Madrid, APOEL Nicosia.
Group E: Liverpool, Lyon, Fiorentina, Debreceni.
Group F: Barcelona, Inter Milan, Dynamo Kiev, Rubin Kazan.
Group G: Sevilla, Rangers, Stuttgart, Unirea Urziceni.
Group H: Arsenal, AZ Alkmaar, Olympiakos, Standard Liege.

Lady Luck thank God!! I am one of those that believe that we are due our own dose of luck. However, remember there are no easy games but somehow I feel confident and our boys can gradually grow from the group stages into the knockout stage.

Easy one this one, LUCKY that you're not in the same group as Milan and Madrid or Barcelona and Inter. United Have a peice of cake group too, Chelsea have a kinda hard kinda easy, they have Lyon I THINK AM I RIGHT?

I wouldn't say United have it too easy. There's a lot of travelling there and the German champs. Liverpool got Lyon and Fiorentina and Chelski got Porto and Athletico. You'd always want to avoid the Spaniards and the Italians. Arsenal will be first through to the last 16.

It's a nice little group for us. The next draw will be when the fun starts. Squeaky bum bum time. PS. I don't think Liverpool will come through their group. Anyone agree ?
