Not healthy for me to hold shares: Wenger

In his weekly pre-match interview Arsene Wenger was asked whether he held any shares in the club.

"No" was the firm reply while adding that he had thought about it. When asked why he had decided not to do so his response was that he wished to avoid any conflict of interests between his role in building the team and any personal gain.

"Because I felt always that I [must] try to do the job with a good work ethic and not to be accused of any decision being of my personal interest. I thought always it`s healthier not to be involved in it at all. So I cannot be accused that whatever decision I make looks after my own interest." Arsene told his interviewer.

Earlier in the same interview Wenger had said that he didn`t think that Kroenke upping his stake to 29.9% would inevitably lead to him taking over the club.

"He`s not in a position where he has to make a bid so at the moment nothing changes" said Wenger.

Though he had spoken to Kroenke, as he said he had to all the shareholders, he hadn`t asked him about his plans.

" I care and worry about my plans" the Arsenal boss claimed " I look towards the team. I take care of what is my responsibility, and that means the team, the results, the way we play and the next game. So the rest is a little bit above my head."

If only Redknapp had taken this stance. Then the taxman wouldnt be after him for making money on Pompeys transfers.

Wenger is right, although I wonder why he is asked this question. Whether he holds shares or not is irrelevant to how he does his job. At least Wenger is smart enough not to look for trouble by investing.

I don't suppose you give any thought at all to just how dumb you come across as Uscock? You probably aren't able to I guess. As for trophyless years remind me how many it is since you last won the title? You probably weren't even born then. There are a few here that will have seen the title won at WHL! The atmosphere was great at the Arsenal end. Pretty crap amongst the spuds though - would have made a library seem noisy.
Amos.
