frighteningly bare substitutes bench...
TPowell
I'll not surprise you when I predict an away win here!
merlin
Im really worried about today... we havent got the early goal, and although we are dominating im not sure where the goal is going to come from... very nervous about this....... cant sit still
Dan_83
i'll shut up
Dan_83
thank you eddie... that pompey defender running back towards his keeper right before the fk seemed to cause a good bit of confusion that worked in our favour
TPowell
What is it with our free kicks recently?
ajwb
I had a feeling that Eduardo must have thought 'If Den and Cesc did it, I might give it a go too' and he did it! :D
GoonerLou
If Diaby continues as he is doing tonight, he will have played 4 excellent games in a row - which is completely unchartered territory for him. What has he been taking?! He really looks top-class.
ArsenalRob
IF we can get 2 more, we'll be on course for a century in the league!
ArsenalRob
Well it helps if he's fighting for a World Cup place with France I guess. But yes, well done to Diaby so far!
GoonerLou
Very good patience for the 2nd
ajwb
Nasri also says he wants to put together a good run of games with us and earn a starting place with France. So you see he's trying hehe. :)
GoonerLou
I really hope that Nasri doesn't have a 'bad' star sign. He should play more for France. And that teasing patience from Eduardo in the box for the 2nd was great - you can really start to see his confidence growing back.
ArsenalRob
Nasri, Ramsey, and Diaby are all lively and playing fairly well... nice, professional type game so far.... Also, assuming we keep gibbs and clichy for a while, we should be able to cash in on traore, he does look to be a descent LB, too bad for him that we already have two that are better than him...
TPowell
Does anyone know who's sitting to the right of Vic Akers on the bench?
ArsenalRob
Ransey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
luckys_10
Ramsey lol..
luckys_10
A bit of immaturity there by Traore. I feel anguish for him every time he makes a mistake. He looked so promising, especially in the 2007 CC, and is still a good player for his age, but his chances of succeeding here are now remarkably slim. Football can be harsh.
ArsenalRob
SONG BILLONG!!!!!!!!!!!!
ajwb
We'll miss you Alex...
ArsenalRob
Brilliant Win, I listen to Arsenal TV online, and i can't wait to see the Ramsey's goal. It sounded like a easy win, i'm so glad Song scored a goal! I just hope we don't miss him too much?! Well Done The Arsenal!!!
hackneyval
Anyone else think Arsene will be using Eastmond this January? Probably as Denilson's back-up I suppose... with Diaby playing as the third midfielder...
TPowell
Hmm, he doesn't convince me TPowell. I know he's young, but I don't think he's up for it. In fact I think using him could hinder him in the long term. I can see him making mistakes and, of course, most Arsenal fans aren't that forgiving. I'm surprised Coquelin hasn't been given more chances. He looks very promising in that position. Perhaps he doesn't apply himself as well in training?
ArsenalRob
I'm well dissapointed, Diaby didn't score! Great win, 51 goals and counting, would have been nice to have a third clean sheet in a row.
Dberg
oh I'm not saying he'd succeed AR, just saying that there is a better chance Wenger uses him as Denny's back-up than us buying a DM this january is all.
TPowell
Eastmond is one for the future. he has been teriffic in all the carling cup games that he has played. where the hell is merida n why doesent he get more chances. i'll be gutted to see him leave. n Vela is off in the summer. Arsene gave him a few games so that he signs a new contract n we dun lose him for free. dun think he has what it takes to make it in this league. he'll be a hit in spain though//
luckys_10
Thank you Gary Neville!
Sajit
I'm still sitting on the fence with Vela. He's got huge talent, there's no doubting that, but I think he needs to get a bit more arrogant. He needs to get a break and keep some form going, and then maybe start to consider himself worthy of a place. At the moment, you can tell he knows he doesn't deserve to start. I wouldn't want to compare him too closely, but I see a bit of the early Henry in him in that respect. Of course, Thierry had such unique talent that he was able to sustain his form from his first break into the side. Carlos may need a couple of tries, but I think he has the potential to get there.
ArsenalRob
As for Eastmond, I'm going to do the unpopular thing and say that I didn't actually think he was teriffic in all the CC games. He had a few good moments, but he looked so naive at times -he was just lucky he didn't get too exposed. I'm not saying he's bad for his age, naivity should be expected in most young players, but not in the Arsenal first team (although, ironically, many would disagree with that).
ArsenalRob
Song Billongs to us
collow
Oh, by the way, here's a funny stat: In half a league season, we've scored 10 more goals than Sp*rs scored in the whole of last season!
ArsenalRob
Diaby is *****! imagine not scoring...!
ajwb
In Song's abscene, as well as Den and Fab what do people think about re-signing Flamini?
MeetTheGunners
How about signing Vieira, he's also useless.
Tom14
He's not been gone that long. Reckon he could slot right back in. Tho saying that, Senderos hasn't managed it.
MeetTheGunners
I am normally opposed to re-signing former players, but I actually think a loan deal for Flamini could work well. He's got good friends at the club and I'm confident that, after a few training sessions and perhaps a game to get back into PL pace, he'd be able to fit right into our style again, and he'd make a good partnership with Cesc and Den. Being quite a mild character, as well, I don't think he'd stir trouble. A lot of Arsenal fans don't like him though.
ArsenalRob
That is the problem though AR a lot of arsenal fans (myself included) have not forgiven him, I'm kind of happy with our midfield (depending on how long Denny is out for), especially now that we know Fab should be back in 10 days
Dberg
The best way to appease the fans might be on a loan deal, as a mercenary. He'd be surplus to requirements once everyones fit anyway. But I for all the reason's AR stated he'd know the role and the club well. Anyone know if he's played in Europe already?
MeetTheGunners
With Song away who takes up the defensive midfielder role? Please don't say Diaby. Song was immense tonight, even if he does still like to beat 5 players before releasing the ball. I haven't always been his greatest fan but he was the muscle out their tonight...fast becoming the hard core we need in the more bruising encounters. I can't see anyone else in the team who is prepared to put their foot in as much...and that includes the currently crocked Denilson. I hope I'm wrong but with Song missing I don't see us rolling over Bolton as easily as some would believe.
Wyn Mills
Song's position is not as important as we have made it out to be. Its just another position in the team. If it wasn't so friggin high on everyone's ***** list we would just be happy that Diaby, Ramsey, Denilson and Fabregas were at the club.
Tom14
AR, Domenech has already called up Nasri a number of times but Nasri's luck has been poor, he's been frequently injured after being called up or -- when not injured -- Domenech has put him on as a sub late in games or just left him on the bench. Domenech sees Nasri as one of France's best young players, he's just too damned conservative to try him for than a 15-20 mins from the bench. Tho Nasri did start at least 2 or 3 France games at some point. All 3 -- Nasri, Diaby and Flamini want to be called up to the wc. I would have no problem with a loan move for Flamini at all, don't care about any ill feelings, he'd work damned hard and he's got the temperament to handle the crowd abuse. He'd be glad to get more game time with a top club months before the wc. Song's absense really does worry me. Amazed at this record of 4 great games from Diaby -- did that EVER happen??? I too have been wondering about Coquelin, Merida and Vela. Maybe the FA cup?
jaelle
Well chuffed with that result. I was expecting a much tougher game than that! Song was the dogs testes and it was great to see my fellow countryman Rambo doing his bit too! 8-)
