Merida is taking his corners quite poorly
TPowell
WHY NO SENDEROS WHEN AW CLEARLY SAID HE MIGHT START???
jaelle
Wasn't Senderos recovering from an injury problem? Maybe he's not 100%, cos he's not even on the bench. Quite a tight game, I hope the kids do better in front of goal. They need to be a bit more composed. Not sure if the Hammers can keep playing at this intensity. Both teams quite young and energetic.
GoonerLou
well, Ramsey's playing well at least
TPowell
1-0 down at half time from an unseemingly position (heart of the centre backs). It is all to play for, now; expect Wenger to bring in Nasri and Diaby (yes! Diaby) for at least, 30 mins of the 2nd half.
Naijagunner
This is very frustrating. Instead of resting Gallas, why the hell does Wenger rest Rosicky unless its an injury. We have been crap, upfront.
Sajit
We're rly cr.ap upfront, nothing much created.Problem is no options on the bench maybe nasri on the wing to make space for Eduardo or Vela
ajwb
Some of the fringe players have disappointed so far - Wilshere, Vela, Merida. They really need to be proving to Wenger that they are ready for 1st team action. Based on this performance - no way. Lets hope they step it up in the 2nd.
prits
what can I say? it doesn't look as though Merida and Jack are ready to play away from home... Song looks tired and our 4th choice LB is awful. Eduardo needs to be surrounded by more creative players to be effective, but Ramsey and Vela are both playing well
TPowell
ok, merida needs to come off for Nasri
TPowell
We need Nasri/Diaby to provide more creative spark, replacing probably Merida/Wilshere. Vela and Eduardo aren't bad, just lacking service.
GoonerLou
Anybody on the bench that might want to make an impression pls put him on
ajwb
TP I'm also worried about the same thing - some of the kids are not the same playing away from home. It looked like the CC game at Burnley almost. Oh good, Samir and Abou are on now.
GoonerLou
those substitutions were painfully obvious
TPowell
haha........Whinger's Gooners are going home :P
the_blue_world
Diaby looks keen to save the day. :)
GoonerLou
Go go Abouuuuuu
ajwb
TBW sounds like a spuddie kid who can't wait to come here to gloat as if we've lost already though there's still 22 mins to go.
GoonerLou
all this time wasting is embarrassing
TPowell
He's a 5yr old in the body of an idiot teenager, Lou, have pity on him, he doesn't have much happiness in life.
jaelle
RAMSEYYYYYYYYYY COME ON
ajwb
I believe it's a good idea for Jack to go out on loan now. He's not going to play even with our injury problems, with Nasri, Ramsey, even Vela ahead of him. Not so sure about Merida, maybe another loan spell would help?
GoonerLou
come on boys, lets keep the pressure and win this thing!
TPowell
Raaaambo!! 2 goals in 2!! :D A tiny bit offside wasn't he? :P We don't care! Oh dear, Diaby took a big knock from Jimenez... Seems a bit nasty that one.
GoonerLou
EDUARDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO what a header!
ajwb
Edduuuuuuu!!!!!
GoonerLou
He's back
ajwb
fantastic header EDDIEEEE
TPowell
Very good cross from Carlos too (unmarked there, granted)! Hope Edu keeps building his confidence back from these goals. He can be such a great player when he's in the right frame of mind. He's been through so much and really deserves to come back to his best. Now kick on!!
GoonerLou
TAKE THAT YOU MISERABLE ITV ASSHOLES!!!!
jaelle
WHam just got tired from that high work rate, they couldn't sustain it.
jaelle
Yeah indeed Jaelle, as suspected they had to tire a one point. Our team's younger and we got a new lease of energy from Diaby and Nasri. Poor Green, he played well, looked so stunned at Edu's awesome header. We also have to love Rambo's passion. His spirit reminds me a bit of a younger Cesc.
GoonerLou
Rambo just looks effing amazing this year, a man, not a kid.
jaelle
Vela's had a better second half too.
jaelle
Edu looks back to best,if he can get the goals no need for a new foward
ajwb
Thank you TBW for coming on here to jinx WHam!
jaelle
Phew! Good second half. Thanks Lou for making the article. I couldn't be bothered to write a preview while I was on holiday lol.
gunnerkid107
Good 2nd half performance. The subs made an impact, Ramsey's goal was superbly taken. Eduardo had a good 2nd half and I really hope this improves his confidence. Those 2 headers towards the end (one a goal, the other narrowly above the bar) were typical of what he used to bring before his injury. I think it was just a case of bad form for Eduardo, nothing to do with his injury and I hope this game onwards, we will see the best of him. Diaby and Nasri had immediate impacts, good to see.
prits
Hehe yeah I've waited until the final whistle to post this: TBW, posted 22 mins too soon eh? (Also can't help but copy his kiddish smiley) :P
GoonerLou
Yeah! TBW. WHU needed that. Now, bring on Bolton and we are 1 point behind the Chavs. Great match, played in true FA cup spirit. Easy to see the difference in passion between these cup games and the EPL clashes.
Naijagunner
its a bit of a joke that Diamanti and especially jimenez weren't carded
TPowell
away to Stoke it is!
TPowell
Great start to the new year...pleased for ramsey and dudu...stoke away in the 4th round awaits...
jess_farenesh
Stoke away is another tough, but winnable, draw for the Arsenal. C'mon! you Gunners!!
Naijagunner
As expected, Chelsea get Preston and we get Stoke away! Anyways, you can only play what is in front of you. Bring it on!
Sajit
It will be really interesting to see how we handle a cup game away at Stoke, especially to see the difference between playing with Toure and Gallas compared with Vermaelen and Gallas. I think they've got the communication levels to cope with it. If Senderos plays it may be different.
ArsenalRob
Having progressed to the 4th round anyway, I'm sure this will turn out to be an invaluable experience for the likes of Merida, Vela and especially Wilshere. I would tend to include Ramsey in that list, but he didn't really seem to lack any experience at all did he? You could put him on any pitch against anyone and he'd always play the same. Vela definately grew through the game, but Merida and Wilshere really seemed to struggle with the reduced amount of decision-making time they had at this level. I really hope Dudu can sustain the form he's slowly building up, because he's such a threat, but it's really difficult to know where to play him. In the middle, the wingers have a lesser supply, but out wide he's just not very effective. It takes a lot of class in midfield to compensate for him in the middle, which, when Nasri and Diaby joined Ramsey and Song, we had.
