Away To Stoke In FA Cup 4th Round

Arsenal will travel to the Britannia Stadium in the 4th round of the FA Cup, after coming from a goal down to beat West Ham at Upton Park.

As the Wenger boys put on a spirited show to fight back from being 1-0 down to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Aaron Ramsey and Eduadro, Paul Elliot and Frank Skinner were sat warming their balls at Wembley in preparation for the 4th draw following the match.

The pair contrived to give Arsenal the toughest task of the round as we were drawn with Stoke City in the next round of the knockout competition. After the first ball was drawn I said to myself I said 'I'd take that', and then as our ball came out of the bag, I thought ... actually, that's not so good.

It's definitely a tie we can win, but it won't be easy, and if the boys take it lightly (which I'm sure Wenger won't let happen) then we could easily get turned over. It'll definitely be an intriguing battle.

Draw in full:

Southampton v Ipswich
Reading/Liverpool v Burnley
Millwall/Derby v Brentford/Doncaster
Bristol City/Cardiff v Leicester
Stoke v Arsenal
Notts County/Forest Green v Wigan
Scunthorpe v Man City
West Brom v Plymouth/Newcastle
Everton v Nottm Forest/Birmingham
Accrington/Gillingham v Fulham
Bolton v Sheff Utd/QPR
Portsmouth/Coventry v Sunderland
Preston v Chelsea
Aston Villa v Brighton
Wolves v Crystal Palace
Tottenham v Leeds

Ties to be played weekend of 23/24 January

Can I be the first to say......what a ***** draw. We got a fairly easy passage through to the semis last year in fairness, but the end of January is such a tough time for us that we needed this game like a moose needs a hat stand. I think it would have to be quite a strong side to win it and I'm not sure we''ll put one out considering the games that immediately follow this are Villa away and United at home.

Agreed LD - Overall the draw is a pretty tame one again by FA Cup standards too, I guess we used all our luck up in the CL draws this season.

It's not a good draw but a lot depends on the injury situation towards the end of the month. Stoke are only 3 points above the relegation zone themselves so their attitude to the game could be affected by league considerations too. It's a knockout contest - the winner is usually the team with the most good fortune over the competition. It's either our turn or it isn't and anything could happen. The worst result for us could be a replay!

I was thinking the same thing yesterday Amos when we got it back to 1-1. Replays are definately not what we want.

If we can remain consisten to that point, 23 Jan to 17 Feb will define our season. If we can come out of that period near the top of the league, and with some good cup runs going, not winning a trophy would be rediculous.

Could have been an easier draw. I'm sure we will have a few more injuries by then, and its going to be a test for the squad. The fringe players will probably get another chance to impress.
