Arsenal Are Half Way To The Title
According to Arsene Wenger's theory, Arsenal are just about half way to winning their 14th league title.
After the crushing defeat to Chelsea at the Grove earlier in the season, Arsene Wenger predicted that Chelsea would drop points and that around 82 would be enough to win you the title. 6 weeks on and Chelsea have dropped points, lots of them, and Arsenal, it seems are well and truly back in the title race.
With Arsenal's Premier League season exactly at the half way stage the Gunners has amassed a total of 41 points, as near as makes no difference half of the total points needed for the Gunners to reclaim their crown.
A statistic that reaffirms Wenger's beliefs even more. 'I said a few months ago that 78 to 83 points would win the title and I stick by that,'
'If you multiply the current numbers by two then you will not be far from that. Chelsea have played 20 games and have 45 points, we have played 19 games and have 41 points. If you multiply that by two it's 82 points. The champions will be around there with 82, 83, 84 points.
'Don't forget we all have to play each other again. Nobody will run away with it and get 19 wins. At the moment there are six or seven teams who could play in the top four and they will all play each other. That means everybody will drop points.'
If Wenger's predictions turn out to be true, then we can drop a total of 16 points between now on the end of the season, meaning that's it's not vital to win the entire run of four fixtures against Villa, Liverpool, Man United and Chelsea.
Though taking at least nine points from those four games would see us well on our way. It's going to be interesting to see how this one finishes up.

Certainly we are in a much better position than many were telling us we would be before the season started. Injuries aside we should get stronger but ManU and Chelsea are still very strong sides and those below us are capable of making a fist of it against most sides (Spuds excepted of course!). But predicting where we'll be in another 19 games time is just as presumptuous as those predicting that we would struggle in the first 19 games. What you can say is that we are definitely competing for the title and not simply struggling to hold onto a CL place as the doubters insisted we would be.

So far, the team has been taking it a game at a time; the best approach to a League/round robin situation. As a unit, we are much stronger, which is why even with the injuries to key staff, the team has kept getting results, even grinding them out in a few cases. The momentum is with us and we alone can slow it down now. Bullish, it may sound, but we can win this one!

Wengers predictions? You'd swear the man was a psychic the way he's been talked about here!! I predict there will be goals scored in the remaining 19 games each club has left, hows that for a prediction? Just as useless as predicting teams will drop points. Also if Chelsea do actually double their point tally then they will have 90 points not 82/3/4. I believe the title race will be between Chelsea and Arsenal, cant see United doing anything unless they buy in the summer and as for Cesspool, mwahahahaha!

Chelsea would be on pace for 90 points if there were 40 games in a PL season, Zbam. But, because there are only 38 games, Chelsea are on pace for 84. Also, that is an interesting prediction (that United won't do anything unless they buy in the summer). I don't see how buying in the summer will affect their title run this year, but as you see fit to mock Wenger, surely you know what you're talking about...

Methinks we have found a Chav very sensitive to their own recent cold spell! As it happens I think even Wenger would have been suprised to see Chelsea drop as many as 9 points out of the last 18. If they don't do any better over the remaining 18 games they'll end up with 72 points - should be enough for a CL place though!

Let's hope the PL place the postponed game reasonably. Hopefully it will be towards the season's end. If so it will be a good thing. Gives us a chance to rest some players and get Nicky, Gael and Cesc back.

I suspect they left it this late because Arsene really wanted the game to go ahead for the opportunity of being one point behind Chelsea come Saturday.

amos may have had a cold spell and whinger is right chelsea will drop points.....but won't the arses as well?? you'll drop points as you have done earlier and drop a few more than Chelsea. and sensitive we may be because we are not in the dominant position that we was but we are reallistic and it all points to us finishes above you again. that puts you 5th in your world.arsecum game off??? poor little p u ssies scared of the snow!!

Of course we'll drop points - as it says in the article everyone will - no-one's saying we will win it - just that we could - that's being realistic.
