Sol Campbell To Play For Reserves Tonight

Sol Campbell will once again pull on an Arsenal shirt as he prepares to play for the Gunners reserves tonight.

Speculation has been rife that Campbell will re-sign for Arsenal on a free transfer after the Big English had been training with the first team at the training ground.

Now it appears as though Arsenal will put him through his paces in a reserve match in a move that one would assume would lead to a first team contract should things go well.

So is it a shrew business move, or Wenger trying to save a few quid .... maybe a bit of both?

What? You signed a traitor??!!
JT_daniel
I cannot believe this, I am gobsmacked?!
The Fear
As I believe you have pointed out in the forum Rocky, he has been training with the team for awhile now. So if Arsene has seen that he can still handle the premiership, then he'll sign him, simple as that.
TPowell
I suppose we can't really comment on this until we how fit he is, and I suppose Arsene is in the best position to judge this. It's making me incredibily nervous though
Dberg
You cant really lose out on a free transfer, and he cant be any worst than Silvestre at the back
paul_ownz
Yeah Wenger might have made mistakes over the talent of players in the past but he won't sign anyone who he doesn't think is fit enough. Whether he can stay fit is another matter, but if he does sign, he will be physically fit. JT ... how is he a traitor? Well, how is he a traitor to us? lol
Rocky7
I don't know why you'd be nervous, Arsene's recent history with 'experienced' signings is quite outstanding... Arshavin, Vermaelen, Rosicky, Gallas, Hleb, Sagna, Eduardo
TPowell
oh, sorry, I forgot about Silvestre, lol. Ok so only one mistake with 'experienced' signings in the past couple of years, haha
TPowell
Silvestre kept us in the top four last season, had to be said.
Tom14
TP - You're being harsh with Silvestre .... if we didn't sign him how on earth would our goalkeepers practise their kickouts?
Rocky7
Tom -- still though, he doesn't fall into the category of the players of players I first listed who all slotted into the team quite well in a very short amount of time
TPowell
lol I'm sure you think that the 3 point lane scum are scum... :)
JT_daniel
But hell, 35 years old? Not Arsene's style, is it?
JT_daniel
Never said he did to be honest.
Tom14
Im hearing his squad number is 88.
iceman10
Awesome!
Tom14
Welcome back Sol! never should have left in the first place
bootoo
Not our only re-signing today either. I just spotted Adebayore wearing an ARSENAL top while being interviewed today about the Togo incident.
julieloveshenry4ever
whinger's only interested coz he's s h i t scared of drogba on feb 7th, not that campbell will stop didier!!
springy
Drogba is average, like Ronaldo. Campbell will kill anyone who dares look at him. He will rise from the bench and **** them up.
Tom14
Zebedee you seem obsessed with us at the moment?! Voyeur.
iceman10
I don't care whether Drogba has got our number or not ...... I'd rather have my nan up front than that odious c***.
Rocky7
Kudos for that insightful psycho analysis of Wenger's mind Springy. You can stop spanking your AW voodoo doll now.
deltaforce
Not sure about a nan upfront against Chelsea, Maybe against United to distract Rooney.
iceman10
This is not really surprising coz Wenger hinted at this, but can Sol be any worse than Silvestre? I hope not, this is one defensive signing that makes a lot of sense. Once Djourou is back in the summer, then our defence will look much better, and Sol is a good short term option.
prits
arsene stay off the sauce.
Uskok
is he the first player ever to be resigned by Arsene? i think so cuz i can't remember anyone else//
luckys_10
Tell me about it ukok, whats Arsene thinking about signing a defender that is in better physical shape than Woodgate and King combined.
iceman10
take a look at this. it seems the official site announced the signing before taking down the article..

Hmmmm, now Arsene's watched the guy train for three months so will be au fait with his fitness. BUT, this basically means if Gallas and TV5 are crocked at the same time, our centre back pairing is Campbell and Silvestre. Any striker who doesn't need a zummer frame will have a fieldday. Not sure about this.
Little Dutch
I nearly choked when i read this. If hes still good enough then whys he signing for Notts County then?? The guys a money grabbing whoore.
HuddersfieldYiddo
I couldn't be more excited by Sol coming back. Can anyone say Martin Keown? Sometimes when players are Arsenal through and through, them coming back can be a tremendous positive influence on the team. Sol can bring bags of experience, as well as tell "war stories" about what it's like playing for other crap clubs...not to mention, we need the height and muscle at the back. This is a fantastic move in my view, welcome back Sol!
devvil
Sour grapes, you know how they taste HuddersfieldYiddo?
deltaforce
In fairness, I can see where HY is coming from. Signing for Notts County was hardly a move based on football ambition at a time when he was already a millionaire. I doubt this move will have been motivated by money though, I think he's just glad someone wants him and someone pretty good wants him. A bit like Owen going to United, can't believe his luck.
