Senderos Hears The News Of Sol & Wants Out

News travels fast in the footballing world, and no sooner has the news of Sol Campbell pulling on an Arsenal jersey broke that Big Phil Senderos had told of his desire to cash in his chips.

It's not going to come as any surprise to anyone that Senderos wants to leave, infact I reckon most Gooners have a bit of sympathy, indeed it's debatable as to whether Senderos has made this statement because of the news of Sol, or Wenger is testing out Sol because of Phil's statement.

Either way he wants out, which makes the signing of Campbell infinitely more likely.

'I want to go, I want and need to be playing ahead of the World Cup. I don't want to play in the reserves, I just want to play.' Said the big man.

Senderos was one of those player that seemed to sign for Arsenal a lifetime ago, but for what ever reason, it never really happened for him.

Good luck big feller, you did alright.

The demise of Big Phil is a strange one. Wenger, never one for killing his youngsters has given big phil the body under the patio treatment. Hopefully he can get out and play some football, he is definitely premiership quality and can be proud of his time at Arsenal especially in the champions league run of 2006.

Agreed Iceman. The only problem with Phil was that he carried the weight of the world on his shoulders. If he could have had Bendtner take on mistakes he'd have been brilliant. He just lets things get him down. It's a vicious circle.
Rocky7
We should give him to Bolton with Gary Cahill coming our way.

Thought this guy was going to be a rock for you all, strange old game.
The Fear
I guess only Wenger knows why Senderous has become a persona non grata. He's not as bad as his treatment suggests, and he's more stable upstairs than Sol has been in recent time. I'm not one for second guessing the Prof, but I'm not convinced about this decision, assuming its true.
deledudu
He doesn't suite our style of play. would be awesome at Everton.

I think Sol has been rehired because of Swiss Tonys desire to leave not the other way round. Both are pretty fragile mentally it has to be said although Sol edges it on the bat**** front. Totally understand Swiss' need to play and therefore move on, I really don't understand how he hasn't figured at all for us at some stage this season.

I feel sorry for Senderos. I dont really know what he did wrong as a young defender. He has the ability to become a top class defender, but only if he can get his mental strength back. Those stories doing the rounds season before last about his fragile confidence (after a really poor game) could well be true, in which case, at least it explains why Wenger has frozen him out.

I rated big Phil. He was generally the scapegoat when we used to cop goals at the library, unfairly I believe. He even chipped in with many a header at the clock end - good luck son.

Maybe there's something behind the scene's that we don't see/hear about? Who knows. Senderos definately had potential. I think going for Campbell will be a mistake, he's just going to be another 'way past his best' Silvestre style player.

Really upset about Senderos, I do rate him. Maybe there's something we don't know about, I don't know. It just feels like he's been treated shabbily.

I don't know what happened Phil He was in a run of great form before he went to the World Cup in 2006 got injured at that and wasn't the same ever since
