They're not starting Klasnic... interesting considering he was probably their biggest threat on sunday
TPowell
I was surprised to see that omission too TPowell
gunnerkid107
He had to drop one of the two (Davies being the other) and its therefore a simple case of "who is better at elbowing opponents" . We all know the winner in that race.

gunnerkid107
top of the league - but for how long!
merlin
Who knows...maybe till May? ;)
gunnerkid107
I've rarely looked to have my team beat and humiliate an oppo team as much as I want Bolton crushed tonight. A draw will feel like a gut wrenching loss to me, and a loss is compltely unthinkable and infra dig. I'm almost willing to wait an extra month for St' Totteringham day just to win this one. Come on you Gooners!
deledudu
If you aren't able to watch the match tonight, Arseblog has a good live blog up. http://tinyurl.com/yjw4fh6
gunnerkid107
Fab and matty taylor with a nice friendly handshake and a smile... maybe Coyle will turn this bunch around yet...
TPowell
Hopefully we won't be as complacent as we were against Everton.
gronedrone
And then we go and start exactly like we did against everton.
gronedrone
What a beautiful clearance, more Traore-esque than Clichy-esque...
Fabby69
Er well we just have to keep up our 3-goals-at-home routine.
GoonerLou
What a nightmare...
GoonerLou
This is going to be interesting - how will the team react to this?
prits
Bolton are outplaying us and if we continue like this it could be a worse than the chelsea game
gronedrone
This is why I refused to buy into all the optimism, all this pre-game talk about going to the top of the league if we can just beat little Bolton at home, easy, right? Yeah. We will rightly be called bottlers and chokers.
jaelle
Well, if this happens again, they don't deserve to win a raffle frankly. Disgusting. You're AT HOME! How many opportunities to rein in the other two do you frigging want, eh???!!
julieloveshenry4ever
Is it me or can Sagna and Clichy not cross a decent ball?
Will-i-am10
TOOOOOOOOOMY GUUUUUUUUUN. pure quality
gronedrone
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Belter from Rosicky!!!
jaelle
CAMAAAAAAAAANNNNN TOMAS !!!!
Will-i-am10
Very good goal tommyyy
ajwb
It's not you, Will-i-am.
jaelle
TTTTTOOOOOOMMMMMMAAAAASSSS!!! What a strike!!!! The great old Tomas Rosicky of old!!! Oh dear me, FANTASTIC GOAL!!!
GoonerLou
the time will come when we will lose important matches... and arsene will realise how by bringing a major player or two we would have gone all the way... i see the same recriminations at the end of may this year... oh dear!!
arseneknows
its what we needed :)
ajwb
I thought not, its been grating on me all season in fact.
Will-i-am10
Will, I saw a stat in the Guardian recently about our crossing, we have one of the poorest rankings in the league for good crosses -- but we rely more on going thru defenses. Sagna's improved a bit this season, now he's ok, he used to be c-r-a-p. Clichy's still c-r-a-p at crossing.
jaelle
Now that we can catch a breath what the hell was Denilson smoking when he gave that penalty away. He doesnt make tackles on halfway like that so why would you do it in the box especially with Cesc about to make the blocking challenge????
Will-i-am10
We seriously need Tomas to stay fit, we're just starting to see his old self. Oh how we missed him, it's sad to say this but I almost forgot what a fantastic player he was. That's how cruel it's been. The understanding between him, Cesc and Eduardo was awesome to watch. Keep going lads, we're right back in it! Just score 3 more goals and we're there! (It's typical of us not to take full advantage when a golden opportunity arises eh?)
GoonerLou
Well lets first teach him how to fricking hoof a ball away. Kicking it very high is idd also away from goal but gravity and all sort of guarantees it will come back close to our goal Gael.
Fabby69
It is quite obvious Arshavin is playing with an injury... but such is the quality of the player that we need to play him. Eduardo's finishing is not as clinical as it used to be and that is purely a confidence problem.
gronedrone
what about Arshavin's injury? what is it, and does it look serious?
luckys_10
Funny old game, soccer. We almost called the game (all the predictions) against ourselves. I feel, it will be a different game in the 2nd half. The occasion was overwhelming for the lads, but the determination to win something will make them be more clinical after the break. I think Bolton will pay for the effrontery of scoring two goals first. See you after the half; need to concentrate.
Naijagunner
I'm so angry my head is threatening to spin around on my shoulders.
julieloveshenry4ever
Same here, Julie, same here...
jaelle
Well Vermaelen certainly isn't eating Davies alive today, elbow is winning everything.
ptv-
FAB the best in the league !!!
Will-i-am10
Sexy Cesc Fabregas! Just 3 more then, lads!!
Naijagunner
Whats wrong Bolton? Billy G too tough?
ajwb
HAHAHAHAHA
Fabby69
What are the commentators on about Gallas' tackle. If you can't take it, don't give it.
Naijagunner
haha how ironic a typical Bolton style challenge from Will-i-am10 has them whinging !!! HAHA good on ya Billy !!
Will-i-am10
lol wt did Gallas do?
luckys_10
That was a clear foul by Gallas (very nasty as well). But Fabregas is finish like a proper striker: Hard, Low and through the legs. Bolton don't deserve to be a goal down but we'll take any luck we can get. Now lets get the winner and not do what did against everton.
gronedrone
Did Gallas break his leg? Was it a high challenge? Stream is messed up when it matters the most!
Fabby69
I hope Bolton don't retaliate like the morons I view them to be...
Fabby69
cohen comes in late on vermaelen.... commentators say nothing... typical
TPowell
Why 3 more? Is that not 2?
julieloveshenry4ever
yes 2 I reckon
Fabby69
Gallas went for the ball... missed it and got the Bolton players ankle (no intent) but it was a foul and the ref is pretty terrible to miss it.good finish by Cesc btw :o)
ajwb
i hope we score the third quickly now..
luckys_10
Oh what were you doing Will?!?! Wrong Davies!!! :P Poor Mark though, that's bad. But to score a peach of a goal against them that way was just one of those things that go around and come around at times.
GoonerLou
VERMINATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Naijagunner
C'mon!!!!!
julieloveshenry4ever
tv has remarkable touch for a defender
TPowell
VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM 3-2
ajwb
My belgian homie does it again! Hahaha
Fabby69
THOMASSSSS !!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Will-i-am10
The xtra goal is to rub it in. For the effrontery to score 2 first and give us a hard time.
Naijagunner
TTTTHHHHHOOOOMMMMMAAAAASSSSS!!!! The Verminator!!!! What a great knock-down from Diaby too!!! :D :D :D
GoonerLou
C'mon, get more!!!!
julieloveshenry4ever
Lou chill, we've had a lot of bad luck with decisions in the past. it all levels out, and this bolton team has been really nasty to us in the past and injured a lot of our players, so they got a dose of their own medicine, and unlike them, Gallas didnt try to injure their player on purpose..
luckys_10
I want 5!!!
Naijagunner
dudu just wont pull the trigger when he has a shot open
Will-i-am10
Luckys, doubt they will see it like that :p Just hope that if we do win, because lets not repeat getting complacent AGAIN, they don't go whining like the little bitc hez we are supposed to be ey
Fabby69
I wonder what Arsene yelled at the guys at half time... :P
GoonerLou
TO HELL WITH TONY GALE! All power to Gallas for that nasty tackle, I'm sick to death of this nice Arsenal team. If Rooney had done it, Gale and the xenophobic pundits would say nothing.
jaelle
Fair point Jaelle. It's a bad challenge, no doubt, but hardly the worst one in the 2 games against Bolton. Now I love this little bit of toughness in the team. Nice guys win nothing!
GoonerLou
great... diaby hurt
TPowell
Can't believe I am worried to see Diaby looking injured.
Naijagunner
Davies is winning everything
gronedrone
ok so william made a foul - Bolton need to learn to PLAY THE WHISTLE !!!!
Will-i-am10
Fabby ***** cares what they think, lets get in a few more hard challenges but fair ones, i like Owen Coyle but i hope his club goes down. and ***** Sky Sports and ESPN here in india, they always do this to us, dun show our matches. what a game this has turned out to be, compared to that championship quality game at Anfield, both of them wont make the top 4..
luckys_10
Well that's it for Diaby as our holding midfielder while Song is out. Any news on Cameroon's game v. Tunisia?
jaelle
To be fair, just get the 3 points please! We can worry about the goal difference another day. I'd be happy with that.
julieloveshenry4ever
We have to stay focussed now. A mature display will do it. We can get two more.
Naijagunner
damn why do we always have to lose a player every second game, what happened though and does it look bad?
luckys_10
It better not be serious for Abou, with Song,Nasri and Ramsey all out
ajwb
THE INTENSITY IS DROPPING LADS !!!!
Will-i-am10
Cameroon v Tunisia is tomorrow. Why won't Almunia give his defenders a shout when it matters? Always reduces these hesitant situations in front of him and the CBs.
Naijagunner
C'mon!
julieloveshenry4ever
ur right julie, lets get the points first, and what happened with Diaby, please update me..
luckys_10
Davies is causing lots of problems, he's getting close to an equalizer
jaelle
oh my god.... another pen on fab not called
TPowell
Thx, Naija, thought that game was today. And our boys have gone slack a bit...
jaelle
if that is a goal kick then why isnt that a penalty???
Will-i-am10
How long left?
julieloveshenry4ever
And Luckys, damn why do always have to live with these pens not given!>?!?
GoonerLou
I LOVE ARSHAVIN
TPowell
We are top of the league!!! Arshavinnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!!! super finish.
Naijagunner
AA23 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Will-i-am10
OMG...WHAT A GOAL
ajwb
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS THE RUSSIAN OWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jaelle
Top of the league?
ajwb
We never get penalties anymore -- I think the FA handed down a rule to all refs that since Eduardo's dive v. Celtic, Arsenal will not get penalties this season.
jaelle
BTW, anyone taking a look at the Villa-BBurn game? Incredible game, it's 5-4!
jaelle
...Don't know if I want to see TR7 leave.
Naijagunner
Get in there!!!!!!!!! That's some hairdryer!!!
julieloveshenry4ever
He's 5 foot 4, he's 5 foot 4-or-or-or, we've got Arshavin, **** Adebayor!!!! :D :D :D
GoonerLou
Where's the whistle??
julieloveshenry4ever
Oh dear what a game, I'm physically sweating... hot in here!!
GoonerLou
Looks like Gallas broke Davies' ankle. We can all expect Arsenal and Gallas to be raked over the coals in the media for the rest of the season.
jaelle
how was Rosicky in the second half?
luckys_10
Hehe our frontline has an average height of like 5 foot 5.
GoonerLou
That's why I stated my opinion bout Gallas' tackle, blackburn idd is not very interesting but the overall media will once again start their anti-arsenal campaign again, especially now that we're on top.
Fabby69
Looks like Theo's annoyed with Arsh for not passing to him to score.
jaelle
What a turn.
ajwb
WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!!!
afri-gooner
Fabby, I have absolutey ZERO sympathy for Bolton, they've tried to injure our players in every single game they play against us for years -- deliberately. Gallas' challenge didn't look deliberate, just poorly timed. And in both these games, they got away with THREE challenges in the box that should've been penalties. So boo hoo, zero sympathy. Take it like the supposed manly men they claim themselves to be.
jaelle
As I said, ***** Bolton mate. Next season won't even be in the league, I meant the chance once again for the tabloids and *****er to go on that we are cheats.
Fabby69
Eh? Where's the whistle???!!!
julieloveshenry4ever
yes jaelle... and the media will conveniently forget that Merida was injured by Bolton last match
TPowell
I'm very happy to be WRONG about this team being bottlers and chokers! I'd rather have the media trashing us for being dirty yadayadayada with us being TOP OF THE F-----G LEAGUE, BABY!!!!!!!!! And Tony Gale makes Andy Gray look like the best football pundit in history. And the spuddies are losing to Liverpool!
jaelle
yeah, back to where we belong...this team has the resilience and fight missing from previous season...kudos to the whole team...well done!!!
jess_farenesh
TP, forgot about the Merida injury. Oh but he's a dirty foreigner, doesn't count.
jaelle
Luckys, Rosicky is turning to the little Mozart we all knew. Had a great game, running into space, creating, tackling and of course, scoring our first! I think Arshavin should have laid that ball to Theo. Gets us 5 and builds up his confidence. Well, we are top of the pile! I wanted 5! I wanted 5!!
Naijagunner
We're top of the table, we're of the table - come on sing it with me........
DBerg
I can't believe some of you are condoning Gallas' foul. It was a shameful tackle. That said, we had every right to play on. Great win tonight though. WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!!
gunnerkid107
Sorry, I am beside myself and (I think) incoherent. This was a command display, coming from 2 down to win 4-2 shows that the maturity, mental strength and big-game focus of this team has gone up a notch. More to come.
Naijagunner
Do I care about the media- do I hell?! C'mon-top of the league!! No sympathy for Davies whatsoever! The mugger gets mugged!
julieloveshenry4ever
Hilarious wiki entry on Tony Gale: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tony_Gale
jaelle
Someone totally wrecked Tony Gale's wiki page. Shemeful but somewhat funny in a puerile way.
Keplaz
I'm with GK here. Revenge shouldn't apply here. No matter how dirty Bolton are, we don't need to be dirty ourselves to beat them. Anyway, it was more of a bad challenge than a malicious one - it's not really a 'taste of their own medicine', it's just a terrible tackle. You don't have to commit fouls to be grity and determined, and we didn't show the former other than that incident, but we certainly showed the latter, as we have done through many points in the season. Great result, but the hardest times are just around the corner now...
ArsenalRob
Liverpool is 2 up against the Spuds!! Those fellows are tough.
Naijagunner
gk, the pundits constantly tell us we don't like it up 'em - our players get kicked all over the park constantly and the pundits just shrug their shoulders and joke about it, they excuse it as "committed English grit." All of a sudden they discover moral outrage over bad tackles when (FINALLY!) an Arsenal player does the same. I'm sick to death of the hypocrisy. It was a bad challenge, I wouldn't have argued if he'd got sent off. But given the amount of bad tackles Bolton gave us in both games (incl. injuring Merida), I frankly don't give a ****.
jaelle
come on Naijagunner, dun get so greedy now, we won and we are top, thats all that matters :D and so happy for Tommy. if we can get him and Eduardo back to their best, then we have a real chance of winning more than one trophy this season..
luckys_10
I'm reading another blog and they're saying Coyle said something rude to AW when they went to shake hands?
jaelle
Coyle pointed at something/someone..maybe where the incident happened with Gallas?..Aw just pulled his face
ajwb
Wow, What a Comeback! At 2 nil down I thought that were had just blew the chance to go Top of the League, How wrong was I?! How Happy am I that I was! Thanks to The Arsenal!!!
hackneyval
What happened? turned off at 2-0 down and went for an anger w.ank
nikolaijns
lol niko yu're nuts to miss that comeback..
luckys_10
No Val, I was confident we'd come back to draw/win the game. I just didn't expect the team to deliver the top spot too!! lol If it's the Spuds, the DVD of that 2nd half would've been on sale on their online shop already Niko!
GoonerLou
I'm with JAELLE all the way! You tell them girl!!!
julieloveshenry4ever
jus kiddin course I saw it :) would be lying if I thought THAT would happen but when we pulled level I knew it was ours for the taking. Feckin fair play lads you did us all proud tonight. Passion guts, style and a massive dose of needle, our lot really don't like them orcs who got a double helping of their own dirty medicine. TOP OF THE FECKIN LEEEEAAAAGUEE!!!!! :)
nikolaijns
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the league table: http://www.sportinglife.com/football/live/tables/premiership.html
jaelle
Luckys, Edu is back but still lacking in pace; for a small man against the big Bolton defenders, his hold up play and flicks to running midfielders was effective today as I recall he assisted twice. Owen Coyle? He will get over it by the next game and soon start singing Arsene's praise. Losers' blues is what he's going through. I hope I can sleep tonight after the tension Bolton caused me.
Naijagunner
:-) to julie! Unfortunately, Chelsea's game in hand is an away game to Hull. Can't believe I'll be rooting for that tanned idiot Brown.
jaelle
I'm dancing around, singing 'We're top of the league, we're top of the league, we're top of the eff-ing leeeeeeaggueee!'
GoonerLou
And Mr Thomas Vermaelen is officially the buy of the year, says me. :)
GoonerLou
Pool have moved up to 6th. Looks like all those folks saying that Benitez will scrape back into the top 4 may well be right.
jaelle
I don't care who we are playing. Gallas shattered a 21 year old's ankle. I thought we had more class than this.
gunnerkid107
Plus- that's a mid-timed tackle nothing more. Can't believe some people have actually criticized Billy for it.
julieloveshenry4ever
Parts of this match reminded me of the Birmingham match two seasons ago and other parts reminded me of that 5-3 win over Middlesbrough. Stand-up for the champions (elect). I can't remember the last time I watched a boring Arsenal match. When Bolton scored the second I thought "we need four goals to go top". My mind goes crazy places.
gronedrone
I thought it's a badly timed challenge too. Haven't seen it again though. But if the ref didn't give it, as Gkid said, we had every right to keep going. Ooooh what a finish by Cesc! And I just realised the Verminator finished with his weaker right foot too. What a night, now I can't sleep!
GoonerLou
GK you are SO out of order. That's a mistimed tackle. And no one gave a toss when Edu' foot was hanging off his leg. That was a fair tackle apparently. Don't feed the hypocrisy of the media please.
julieloveshenry4ever
No need to get personal Julie just because you don't agree with me. Martin Taylor's tackle was a bad mistimed challenge too, but none of us had any problem crucifying him for it.
gunnerkid107
Come on you gunnnnnners!!! Fantastic to see us graft away and not collapse like last year when we're a goal or two behind... so happy to hear them complain about our assaulting them and the day couldn't come too soon if they went down and took Blackburn and Hull with them. Having said that they played well and Gallas did foul them but it looked unintentional... if players don't play to the whistle then they risk conceeding goals... thanks for the points orcs ;-)
Andy-bayor
GK this lads injury is a direct result of the aggressive tactics employed by his team. In Wengers post match interview he was asked about the tackle and asked if the interviewer wanted to see the multitude of bruises cuts and scrapes his players have endured over these two games. I don't believe Gallas deliberately aimed to maim as I didn't believe Taylor did on Eduardo, feet and bodies were flying in thick and fast as we refused to be outfought. This was a feckin war out there and in war there are casualties. I'm gobsmacked someone like Rosicky came through that unscathed. Bolton live by the sword and tonight they died by it.
nikolaijns
GK I was not being personal on you. Simply standing up for Billy who has plenty of class in my book. It weren't deliberate, simple as.
julieloveshenry4ever
What a comeback! Keep telling myself not to get excited, but I'm losing it with every point we gain! Woohoo! 8-)
flv
There's a tendency to feel that the player coming out unscathed must be at fault if a player is injured. In this case neither player was in possession of the ball and Davies got injured lunging for a 50-50 ball that Gallas didn't back out of. Gallas was just as likely to have got injured but was entitled not to shirk the challenge. The ref was right on top of the play and saw it is an equally committed tackle from both players. To compare this with Taylor's tackle on Eduardo which was over the ball and while Eduardo had the ball fully under control is to misunderstand football completely. This may be a partisan view on my part in which case I make no apologies for that given the nature of the opposition but a cold objective look at what went on would find Davies just as responsible for his injury as Gallas was.
Amos.
I completely agree Nik, and Julie I see your point now. However, Amos, I disagree about the two incidents not being comparable. If Taylor had been just a second earlier, he would have got the ball, Eduardo would have been fine, and Arsenal would have gone on to win the league (that last one is just a personal opinion of course). My original comments were only to bring another side to what seemed to be a one-sided debate so far. Questioning Gallas' class was taking it too far though.
gunnerkid107
Oh my gosh, just back from the game with the old man. That was unbelievable. Great game, great goals. I'm knackered! Nite all x
Gunnerman
Sorry GK. I couldn't disagree more. If Taylor had been a second earlier he would have simply caught Eduardo higher up on his leg. Eduardo was in possession with the ball under control Davies wasn't, that's a crucial difference when contesting the ball.
Amos.
Anyways that's enough from me. I'm delighted at the result, but I'm also chuffed at my bank account. I had a cheeky 20 bet on Vermaelen scoring any time at 8-1 odds. It's going to be a good weekend!
gunnerkid107
I await to see the "southern softies" and "Arsene Whinger" articles on Vital Bolton.
iceman10
dick on vital bolton has bottled it like his team and removed all the comments on his hateful bitter little rant :)
nikolaijns
To be honest I used to think I was the most pessimistic gooner around. Was surprised to see the knee jerk reactions of so many fans here during the game. Thought it would be best to post once the game got over. Keep the faith.
Sajit
About time we update the league table as we're on top of it now... :)))
jess_farenesh
Interesting to see Arsene's interview with sky when asked about the posibillity of signing Smalling...never denied it, big difference when queried about sergio canales...wonder whether this is true....
jess_farenesh
*****!! Why on earth did i not watch and THEN forget to record this game? Fk, it was on at 2.45am in Western Australia. *****!! I log onto this site, look at "Arsenal v Bolton Preview - 160 comments" ...Haha. Sounds like a good game. And as for the Gallas incident, i see everyone is quickly forgetting the kick to Fabregas's face and then the silly **** pulling his hair afterwards? Bolton can suck my dick :)
FuiKaka
Top of the league guys.. enjoy it while it lasts!! Not too long i reckon!
Rune3k
Huh- not for long? Don't count on it! We OWN that top spot. At last for the first time since August (us), a proper footballing team is top of the table. And as for our "softies?" I say this to all-comers; come on and have a go if you think your hard enough. Try to boot us off the park, will ya? Have some of THAT.
julieloveshenry4ever
Any truth on Dzeko being at the ground yesterday?
jess_farenesh
After the leg-breaker on Eduardo one would think that I'd have some sympathy towards Bolton's plight, but as a life long football fan I reserve the right to have a memory like an elephant (I'm still fuming about Stefan Henchoz in the 2001 cup final), and I remember an Arsenal side that was gunning for the title getting pegged back in a vital PL game by Bolton after they injured three of our players in about ten minutes. So with that in mind I say ********* to 'em, they deserve it, they've had it coming for years ...... they might think twice before ******** with us in the future!! UP THE GUNNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rocky7
allez arsenal this your year, damn arsha should have passed to theo.
