Stevie 'Bum-lick' Gerrard says that he was surprised that the bestest referee in the whole wide world, Howard Webb, missed Cesc's handball in the dying seconds of Arsenal's 1-0 victory at Ashburton Grove last night.
Gerrard claimed to be shocked that his good buddy Howard Webb, the bestest referee in the whole wide world, didn't see the Arsenal captain raise his arm in the wall as Liverpool looked to salvage a last gasp equaliser.
Despite the fact that the ball was nowhere near being in the area when it struck Cesc's arm (why are so called football pundits saying it should have been a penalty because Fabregas foot was on the line?) Gerrard labeled Webb's call to play on as 'Crazy'.
'The referee told the Liverpool wall in the first half that if anyone raises their arms above their waist he was going to give a penalty,' said the Liverpool skipper
'So for some crazy reason he didn't give it. He told me after the game he hadn't seen it.It was unbelievable and I can't believe he didn't see someone raise their hands in the wall. We know over the course of a season sometimes you will get decisions and sometimes you won't, but something so clear as that was hard to take, especially with the referee being Howard Webb.'
'I would say he is one of the best referees in the league so I am very surprised he didn't see it.'
I'm not entirely sure why Gerrard was surprised he'd missed it when he missed the the England midfielders blatent dive earlier in the game and the even more obvious dive a mere 2 seconds before the free-kick was awarded.
