Vermaelen: We'll Do It For Rambo

Thomas Vermaelen has vowed that he and his Arsenal team mates will do all they can to win their remaining Premier League games and bring the title back to the Gunners for the 14th time, and they'll do so for their team mate Aaron Ramsey who, I'm sure nobody needs reminding suffered such a horrible injury on Saturday last.

When the injury occurred Vermaelen was one of the most visibly shaken, pictured immediately after the incident with his head in his hands, he could clearly be seen walking away, shaking his head, mouthing the words 'fuck me'.

However distraught Thomas looked, the hard man was mentally tough enough to put it to the back of his mind and finish the task in hand, and even scored his 9th goal of the season.

The Gunners centre back now wants to win a league winners medal for his friend and team mate, Aaron Ramsey.

'I saw the tackle and I heard a strange noise, afterwards, I saw his ankle. It was not nice to see, especially when it's a team-mate.' said the Verminator

'We have to win every game now and we will do that and will do it as well for Aaron.'

And you know what, with his focus and determination, I believe they will do it too.

I love this guy, he is rapidly become one of my favorite players ... is it really only his first season with us? Seems like he's been here for ever.
Rocky7
Has anyone since Adams deserved the No.5 shirt as much as this guy? Absolutely a favourite of mine and absolutely barn-storming signing by Mr. Wenger. Embodies the club on so many levels.
herobeard
I think Adams wore no. 6 for Arsenal and Keown wore no. 5 (before that it was Bouldie)
G4L
eitherway he's in good company
G4L
Great player
Ozi Gooner
I know that i shouldnt be on her but this guy is a real class act, on and off the field. A model proffesional, and in my (usually biased!) opinion player of the season! Shame he doesnt play for us! Ha Ha!
superspuds
I am tempted to get the TV5 shirt next but don't want to jinx him. He is one tough mother*****er.
Sajit
If it werent for the astonishing Cesc Fabregas superspuds, I would be agreeing with you!!
Rocky7
Hard as nails, great defender, good in the air, bangs in a few goals, technically accomplished and to top it off a genuinely top bloke. TV5 mate, take a bow - fantastic signing. Becoming more and more of a favourite of mine as the weeks go by.
Gunnerman
Good point Rocky.Reckon Wenger fancies swapping TV and Fabregas for Hutton and Jenas? :)
superspuds
I don't think so SS, we've already got the best tea-lady and toilet cleaner in the business ;)
Rocky7
You are perfectly WELCOME to come on here and debate with us superspuds! As for Tommy V- I love him. Signing of the year for me and as has been said, it's like he's always been here! Fair play to his sentiments. Never have I wanted to win a trophy so badly!
julieloveshenry4ever
Very funny there, Rocky! Don't take this the wrong way, superspuds, but if AW agreed to that swap, I'd sign the "committment" papers myself!!
julieloveshenry4ever
Whilst im here i also thought i should give my opinion on a 'hot topic'! This is not an attempt to atagonise, by the way! I was wondering what you guys thought about the Shawcross tackle? Obviously you are not going to be happy, but I dont think that there was any malice in the challenge and that Wenger over reacted slightly with his conspiracy theory! The hole thing bit me in the ass anyway im welsh and was looking forward to seeing Ramsey in the red (my red obviously)
superspuds
*whole*
superspuds
Check the below articles mate - you'll see the general gist of it.
Gunnerman
Cheers! Forgot bout that!
superspuds
Signing of the year Julie? Do you mean over all the PL teams? Because if not he's only competing with Sol Campbell, and whilst he has been excellent, I don't think he's quite contributed as much as the Verm ... lol
Rocky7
Some of you lot have been a bit harsh actually! It was a naty challenge but i dont think that it was deliberately malicous. The lad seemed generally upset but Pulis' reaction didn't help the situation. He took Arsene's comments personally and got really defensive. Why i dont know, most of his team play like they are members of a prison team! :)
superspuds
OHHHH WHAT A PLAYER! As ive said before, Gallas has been our best defender, but this guy is superb.
Tom14
Rocky, why did you have write that last sentence in the article?!?! you've jinxed us!
TPowell
Yes, supersuds, but Shawcross can't keep crying. It's the second time that he's broken the leg of a fellow player. It's time for him to own up the recklessness of his actions and go back to learning how to make a proper, reasonable tackle. Our players are the ones paying the price for other players' rashness. We haven't been half as harsh as the general media who have jumped on Wenger because he's trying to prevent a career-ending injury to a major footballing talent some day. And if this isn't sorted now, it WILL happen. So for Aaron, for ourselves and for all the above, Vermaelen's remark are a call-to-arms.
julieloveshenry4ever
superspuds, no one on this site is saying Shawcross intended to hurt Ramsey, that's a complete red herring of an argument. Of course he didn't, intent is totally irrelevant to the issue--it's the wild recklessness that Shawcross has repeatedly demonstrated. This is the 2nd time he's broken an opponent's leg.
jaelle
And count me in on the TV love-in!
jaelle
Count me in too! Signing of the season in the entire Premiership for me. Yes, above Tevez/Bellamy/Adebayor/Toure/Barry for City, even above Robinho for Santos. lol And yes you guys have mentioned this point too, but he's a top man both on and off the pitch. Says the right things in the right spirit in interviews as well. How Arsenal keep recruiting the right people, I really don't know! ;)
GoonerLou
Last time I felt this way was 2 seasons ago with Sagna when he slotted straight into the team as if he'd played with us forever. I was absolutely amazed and wouldn't think Arsene could pull off another guy like that. But he did, and in a much-needed position in CB. Awesome!
GoonerLou
"even above Robinho for Santos" -- Lou, you had me cracking up at that one!
jaelle
TV5 has been a fully fledged Gooner since the day he joined and frankly, looks like the kind of guy you would not want to meet down a dark alley. Not surprising therefore, that Our Ryan - nice lad he is - didn't pick on him for a fight! HOWEVER, and I do a lot of those, I would just add that I wish sometimes the boys would stick to what they do best and leave their talking for the pitch. I wanna see them get their heads down, do the business, then they can talk up their success at the end of the season. This is the time for action and 30 more points, not for idle chat.
wibblemeister
Oh and GoonerLou, bang on right about TV5 fitting straight in like SpagBol - but I would add, lets hope he has a better 2nd and 3rd season than our RB has managed (for whatever reason this may be)...
wibblemeister
Nah, WM, Tommy is going to be a legend! Love 'im. And yes I did mean BUY of the year -anywhere! Can I just make a honorary mention to Big Sol who is a real trooper by the way.
julieloveshenry4ever
What’s TV5 worth now? It justifies Arsene ‘s approach (again) to the transfer market where you don’t have to spend ridiculous amounts of money for a top class player.
Sir Henry
This guy absolutely ******** rocks.
