'If It's Football, It's Vital'

'........ We're The Clock End Of The Grove'

Is Ivan Gazidis one of the best signings Arsenal football club have made in a long time?

Despite what 'some blogs' might tell you, Ivan Gazidis is not the anti-christ, infact ever since he came to our club, only good things have happened (crippling injuries aside). Gazidis has 'Arsenal-ised' our stadium, listened to the fans, and has given the 'soul-less bowl' some identity.

And now we're hearing some of the best off field news I've heard in a long time. According to the the Daily Telegraph, Gazidis hopes to bring in the old Highbury Clock from the cold into the warmth of the stadium, and not only that, plans are in place to rid the Grove of the stupid Orange and Yellow quadrant nonsense and revert back to the Clock End, North Bank, East and West Stands.

'We want to bring the clock back into the stadium and we will move back to having a Clock End, a North Bank, and East and West stands, we want to make sure it is the best stadium in the world, five, 10 and 15 years from now.' Said Ivan

'We want to make it not just a technological marvel but a place that our fans can feel the traditions of the club.'

All together now ..... We're the North Bank, we're the North Bank, we're the North Bank of the Grove!

WEEEEEE'RE THE CLOCK END, WE'RE THE CLOCK END WE'RE THE CLOCK END ASH-BUR-TON!

They missed a trick first time round but they're getting absolutely right with this move. Not sure the North Bank chant (or it's Clock End response) would sound right without " 'igh - burr- reeee! "on the end instead of Grove. Maybe the supporters club could earn a few bob in sponsorship every time we sang " We're the Norf Bank -We're the Norf Bank -We're the Norf Bank Em-muurr-rets" though

I think it's up to the fans to make it sound right. As strange as it was walking past Highbury to get to the Grove at first, we got used to it eventually. I'm sure the song will roll off the tongue after a few years, especially when the younger end of the fan base gets older and the Grove is pretty much all they will have known.

I reckon Ashburton, rings better, same syllables as Highbury too! Meh, whatever it is it'll come from the crowd organically. All I know is this is fantastic news, and beats the crap out of the quadrant rollocks.

Well done Ivan

Great idea indeed! Saw this in Sky Sports, quoting the Telegraph. In the Telegraph article, I didn't see the Clock End bit, but it says that they moved the whole Boardroom and MD office from Highbury to the Grove too. The club management keep saying that we're deep in history but had to move to the new stadium for our long-term growth and so we're doing everything we can do keep that sense of heritage alive in the new place, and seeing these moves you have to believe them.

i remember being at the north bank of highbury when i was 12, it was amazing, they should definitely bring that back. we won 3-1 btw

Going in the right direction at any rate. Quadrants! Puh-lease!

I can finally wear the grey t-shirt that I bought in 1982. Across the front, in red writing, it proudly says " Clock this......The Clock End fear no one."
