Lineups: Arsenal v. SC Neusiedl 1919

It's finally time for me to clean off the summer cobwebs on my keyboard and start typing up previews and starting lineups again. Today Arsenal takes on SC Neusiedl 1919 from the Sportzentrum Neusiedl Stadium in Neusiedl am See, Austria (Thank you copy/paste). SC Neusiedl 1919 finished 7th in the Austrian third tier last season, so I expect this match to be considerably easier than last Wednesday's friendly against SK Sturm Graz

Arsenal Starting XI: Almunia, Nordtveit, Koscielny, Djourou, Gibbs, Nasri, Wilshere, Arshavin, Walcott, Frimpong, JET

Arsenal Bench: Fabianksi, Diaby, Sagna, Vermaelen, Clichy, Song, Eboue, Chamakh, Vela

SC Neusiedl 1919 Starting XI: Kaiser, Dombi, Seywerth, Bagoly, Maak, Bauer, Gangl, Macho, Koller, Windisch, Bruck

SC Neusiedl 1919 Bench: Summer, Silbberbauer, Kienzl, Petho, Seper, Kummer, Linshalm, Wendelin, Skripec

You can watch the match on ATVO, or through other less reputable online sources.

I'll have a Emirates Cup preview on Friday. Enjoy the match!

Rosicky was a late scratch. Not good for him.

How is Nordtveit playing? Does he have a chance in your 1st team this year?

Djourou hobbling off, izzy whizzy let's get busy transfer wise. The fact that Koscielny and Vermaelen weren't started together suggests they're not next season's 1st choice and that Wenger plans to partner Tommy with A.Nother. Let's expedite that process now please, understandings need to be forged. In short, stop ******** about.

I have a feeling Wenger had planned to keep a close eye on a potential Djourou Vermaelen partnership this preseason, with Kosielny taking the season to adapt and pressure for a start, with the likes of Nordveit just behind. I'm not too keen on that idea, and hopefully this Djourou worry and Campbell's leaving will prompt him to bring someone else in.

the idea wenger spends 10m on a centre back and then starts Djourou is just plain silly..... think about it guys - its Thomas and Laurant - and possible someone like Distin as cover

I don't think it's all that silly. He knew that he only had two centrebacks with real top-flight experience and he obviously wanted to sign some quality in that area to cover and compete for the next few seasons. I'd expect he was expecting him to make a strong case to start but I wouldn't have thought he'd have been too comfortable with throwing him in to the thick of it like that with so little in reserve. His style seems slightly more laid back than Vermaelen's, the type that may require longer to adjust. That 'someone like Distin' may still come as a sort of more reliable version of Silvestre - someone with Premiership experience who can be easily thrown in as a stop-gap.
