Chamakh Told Not To Play For 'Small' Tottenham

Arsenal new boy Marouane Chamakh has found favour with Arsenal fans after a couple of decent performances in pre-season, and no doubt he will be endeared further after revealing, and these are his words, that he was told he shouldn't play for a small club like Tottenham.

Chamakh joined Arsenal in the summer on a free transfer after his contract with Bordeaux expired. The centre forward reveled in an interview with FourFourTwo magazine that he was told by the then Bordeaux manager, Laurent Blanc, that he should not join a small club like Tottenham.

Mourouane said, 'I only wanted to join Arsenal but they would not pay the price Bordeaux demanded,'

'Blanc told me I shouldn't join a smaller club like Sunderland, Tottenham Hotspur, Blackburn or West Ham. He really wanted me to join Arsenal but he wanted Arsenal to meet the asking price, which wasn't much because I was starting the last year of my contract.'

'We weighed up the pros and cons and I decided to stay with the backing of my coach.'

Of course we here at Vital Arsenal aren't for one minute suggesting that Spurs are a small club, we just report the news.

Don't shoot the messenger.

The "small" team that have won more than Arsenal in the last 5 years...we'll see how small we are when Chamakh is in Daws' back pocket this season.

The trolls are out in full force. Funny, I thought this was Vital Arsenal, and I thought the Spuds would be over at Vital Spuds discussing all o Harry's signings this summer. Oh, right. Don't worry Spuddies, unproven 21 year old foreigner Sandro will lead you to the holy grail, and as soon as Harry signs his only real target- a third string keeper- watch out England!

"Our biggest rivals will of course be Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal, while Manchester City could play a major role" Hmm. Funny how you completely ignored that. In all seriousness, Spurs campaign will be the most interesting to watch out of all the teams this season, I think Spurs will overcome Young Boys and play in the group stages. How will Redknapp balance the league and the champions league at the same time. Will they adopt the same youth policy in the Carling Cup as we do. I wont watch many Spurs matches this season but I will keep an eye out on their domestic results after long trips in Europe and off course that extra spice to the North London Derby as both clubs are in the CL.

If Chamakh read what the idiot spuds post here, he'd know they are even smaller than Blanc suggested. News flash: finishing top four for the first time since 89-90, 14 managers,an FA Cup in 1991 and two league cups in that period do not make you a big club. 13 consecutive top 4 finishes, 11 consecutive appearances in the Champions League group stage, 4 league titles, 5 FA Cups and 1 Champs League runners-up medal, however, do make you a big club.

Give it up 123, if you wouldn't have swapped league position and a worst case of final 8 in the Champions League for one tin cup over the past four seasons, you are even more deluded than most spuds. Here's a big difference- your tiny club sacks a manager after a poor start, our club engages in something called 'long term planning'. Big clubs plan, tiny clubs react and start over. That's why you will always be in our shadow. Forever. Now **** off back to Vital Spuds where you can circle jerk with your mates and dream of winning something bigger than the league cup.

Always talking, never doing, but this year you'll be better than Arsenal, right spuddies? They won't again profit with shoddy performances from us, Citeh and Chelski this time round. Can they form their own site? Maybe they enjoy being the butts of Gooner humour

not only are spurs a small, insignificant and pathetically low standards club, but they're also constantly looking over their fence in envy and jealousy of their neighbours. wake up to reality you hideously ignorant trolls, respect has to be earned through achievement against the best teams in england and europe. not spurts of positive results throughout decades of mediocrity.

Hahahah these comments are hilarious. I'm a fan of neither and actually prefer Spurs but the fans must be high on acid if they think they're bigger than Arsenal. Two league cups is ***** all, Arsenal have one of the best managers the English game has ever seen. Arry is good but Wenger makes him look like a youth team manager. Arsenal are a bigger club face it Spurs fans, 3 EPL titles(is it 3?) two doubles in those 3 wins, a champions league runners up spot, at least second round every year, a manager who has a great eye for youth, and well they may not be English but I don't care because neither am I. Arseanl are far superior to your team, how does one top 4 make ye bigger than a team who has one the EPL finished second and third while ye were languishing in 12, 13, 8, 9 whatever, if I was to say to you that Celtic were the best British club you'd laugh right? well they were the first to win the European cup but that was so long ago that it means nothing, like what Spurs achieved long ago means nothing, Spurs are a big club but teeny tiny compared to Arsenal. Now my two cents lol.
