Ten times more pressure at Arsenal says Seaman

Interviewed on Talksport former goalkeeping legend and Arsenal and England No. 1 David Seaman claims that the pressure at big clubs is very different from that experienced elsewhere.

"There was pressure on me when I was at Birmingham and QPR, who were premier league clubs, but then I went to Arsenal which increased the pressure tenfold. So that`s a big step," says the former Highbury favourite.

Admitting that his part time coaching role makes it difficult for him to comment he believes that the clubs present keepers all have the ability to perform at the level the club needs but just haven`t shown it yet.

"They`ve got some great keepers at Arsenal and it`s frustrating for me because I see them in training and I can see what they`re capable of. But at the moment they`re not fulfilling their potential. They`re making the odd mistake and because it`s Arsenal it`s high profile."

Safe hands, as he liked to sign himself, claimed that since he left and Lehmann joined, the club hasn`t really had a settled keeper despite Lehmann making almost 200 appearances with Almunia not far behind him having notched up 168 so far.

"The fans get frustrated." Seaman continued "....but it is frustrating because I see that Almunia and Fabianski, and Vito Mannone and Wojciech Szczesny, are all really good goalkeepers but at the moment they`re not showing how good they are."

As Almunia is still sidelined with an elbow injury, though Wenger said this week that he`ll be 'ready in days`, Fabianski looks to build on more reassuring performances, individually at least, in his last outing at Stamford Bridge and the CL encounter in which he saved a penalty against Partizan Belgrade, assuming he keeps his place against Birmingham at the Emirates on Saturday.

Are these quotes from the other week? When he was interviewed on the South Bank? Seaman left QPR to come to the champions, removing Lukic who many people thought was one of the best around anyway, so of course there was greater pressure. I don't see the relevance in this unless he's comparing it to Man Utd / Chelsea etc.

Mannone had a disaster of a game in the U21 qualifier over the weekend.

Let's hope Lukasz can make it three games on the trot tomorrow where's he looked better. A clean sheet and good performance would do his confidence wonders. I just feel he needs to calm down a little when he plays, he comes across as a bit jittery.

Fabianski had a good solid game against Brum. No mistakes. He needs to have a good run like this to build his confidence.
