Relief As Redknapp Vows To Keep Woodgate

Harry Redknapp says there's no chance of Johnathan Woodgate coming to Arsenal, much to the relief of Gooners everywhere.

A crazy rumour emerged over the weekend that Arsenal were looking to sign the most injury prone player in football history (well, it's a tie between him and Ledley King actually) as cover for our injured centre backs. Yes, crazy huh?

I never thought for one minute that this rumour was true, but it's good to hear Twitchy McTwitcherson put paid to any speculation.

'No, not a chance. We wouldn't let him go there. We want to keep him,' claimed 'Arry after being asked if the Woodgate to Arsenal rumours were true.

'He's out of contract in the summer so if we let him out on loan, then we're not giving him away unless he signs a new deal before he goes.'

He actually said this with a straight face like it was a good thing for Tottenham.

When you say 'straight face' I presume you mean that only as a figure of speech Rocky? There's very little straight about 'arry, least of all his face.

"Jonathan's doing well. He's coming back and when he's fit, he's a top, top centre-half." One careful owner as well yeah Arry? Woodgate is as close to the human equivalent of a "cut and shut" as you will ever find.

Harry Redknapp talks like a cartoon character, he can't be a real person.

Rocky, this article brought a smile to my face; then I saw Amos' post and almost burst my sides. That was hilarious, indeed.

Im still baffled you signed Silvestre. Would of been ridiculous seen as though hes not French, Distan would be more realistic.

HY, There must surely be some second hand car lot Harry can suggest to his board as a good potential site for a new spurs stadium, rather than trying to grab the Olympic stadium. What a shabby mess.

A complete mess indeed. The blame lies with Haringey Council trying to take us to the cleaners hence why were in this mess

Harringey only asked for £15 million to regenerate the area? All the fuss has been caused by the club itself, Stratford is £200 million cheaper than doing up our alternative title winning arena, all about saving and making money.

Although MP Lammy makes a good case costs have spiralled over £40m more despite seeing construction costs at a 10 year low, its not just Haringey but English Heritage etc. They clearly havent been as supportive as your council was to you...although Arsenal payed out quite alot more with the rubbish plant so it does make you question Levy's motives other than wanting to save himself some brass. One giant mess.

How typical of 'arry to refuse to sell us a player we didn't want anyway! According to Wenger "We are not after him. That was not on our mind at all, [it was] completely out of the blue.”

Apparently 'Arry is caught up too much in the facking wheelin' dealin' that he seemed to think we wanted Woodgate

Silvestre still gives me nightmares. At least Woodgate would be injured and wouldn't play. Silvestre always seemed to be available. He played against Barcelona last year .... how scarey is that?

Hope the rumours about Mamadou Sakho are untrue. Do we need yet another French defender who will need time to get up to speed in the premiership? I'm not sure what it is Wenger has against English based defenders, apart from them being over-priced. Sometimes you just have to pay more for a left-hand drive model.

Having said that Cahill had an absolute mare against Chelski last night, perfectly illustrating why he is not worth anywhere near £20m.

When referring to Woodgate, its interesting coz I remember a lot of fans were disappointed Wenger did not sign him (when Spurs snapped him up from Boro). In hindsight, what a relief. There are a few more players in that category. I can remember calls for signing Gamst Pedersen 3 seasons ago on the back of one good season.
