'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Poll: Cahill, Jagielka or Samba?

The latest poll at Vital Arsenal asks "Which defender we`ve been linked with would you prefer?".

Over the past few weeks we`ve been linked heavily with three Premiership defenders, and we`re wondering which of these 3, if any, would gooners most like to see in the famous red and white.

Chris Samba has been a long term linkee for the Gunners, big, powerful and aerially adept the Blackburn defender appears at face value to be just what we`re looking for.

Bolton`s Gary Cahill is another player who we`ve been linked with before, highly rated (there it is again … arrgghh) and wanted by a few other teams, the centre back has worked his way into the England team so therefore must possess "English grit" …. Unfortunately English grit comes with a price.

Phil Jagielka has played all over the park in his career, even between the sticks, the Everton man has a wealth of experience and a surname that means we could pass him off as a foreigner as not to blight out Anglo-phobic image.

Of course you might be of the opinion that our great club should be aiming higher when looking to sign players to marshall our defence, if that is the case then a "none of the above" answer is available to you!

The poll can be found at the bottom right handside of this page.

Samba! I've said it so many times on here and I'll stick with it. If we get Cahill I'd be happy too. I thought he was over priced but actually I don't care. He's got all the attributes to be a really good defender.

Cahill, Samba, Jagielka, in that order. Wenger may likely go for Jag because he will come cheaper than Gary; is injury prone and bears a name that can pass him on as a foreigner and meet the requirement of a name I spell check for every time.

Please not Samba. He's just a reactionary lump of a centre half. Hardly an organiser either; just 'see ball, kick ball.' At least Jagielka and Cahill have football brains.

All will struggle at a top team. Aim a bit higher.

I would say we need to get two of these and not just one. My choices would be Samba and Cahill. I've chosen Cahill over Jagielka due to his age although he would cost more. Samba is the big physical presence we have been crying out for since we lost Sol Campbell, plus he can be thrown up front if we're chasing a game...

Alex is available from Chelsea for 7 million (bargain!) buy him and at least 1 of these 3 guys, prob Cahill, Samba, Jag in that order, keep vermaellen, lose squillaci n co, and get a really experienced goalie (Buffon was interested in a move to us lets not mess about) to mentor our young shot stoppers, keep on after mata, hazard, and what about van der vaart, lets put the spuds under pressure rednap is always messing with our deals, lets mess with him - we can easily see silver this year if we sort the defence out now
