Transfer Toss - Doyle, Cesc & 3 French Dudes

So a new week begins with yet more transfer rumours doing the rounds.

Let`s start with the rumour that has the most smoke being omitted from the obvious fire, and that`s the story that Gael Clichy will travel to the Eastlands today for a medical ahead of his 7 Million move to Manchester City.

According to Sports News Ireland, Arsene Wenger will make a 12 Million bid for Wolves` Kevin Doyle as the Arsenal manager attempts to . Erm . Spend 12 Million.

Marseille`s Didier Deschamps, has rubbished rumours that the Gunners will sign French playmaker Mathieu Valbuena as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas or Samir Nasri . Or both. Either way, it doesn`t matter, it`s bollocks.

Many source reports that this week will see the beginnings of a mass exodus in North London as Arsenal resign themselves to losing Cesc Fabregas & Samir Nasri on top of the probably transfer of Gael Clichy to Manchester City.

All in all . Another great start to the week .

Kevin Doyle??? That has to be tosh, becuase he is

Just thinking it might be interesting to start the week with a look at what the papers said would be done by the end of the last week. by my reckoning by today we should have sold four player (Cesc twice) and bought....I'm not sure....about ten?

Was thinking the same thing No10. After starting lumping all the days transfer news together into a daily article we must have been linked with half the world and sold all of our players.
Rocky7
Clichy is definitely off. Sad end to a promising Arsenal career. The last of the invincibles to depart. All the best to him.
Deltaforce
It's the 'In the next few days' I love. I used to get excited by those words, now it seems to be used when there is no real news and something needs to be written. Fans of smaller clubs must get so *****ed off with having those little boxes on the back page covering their big transfer coup/loss in 8 words. When we get double page spreads saying nothing different to yesterdays but with the added line that the 'saga' (that the papers have created) will be 'wrapped up in the next few days'.

About time we got rid of Clichy. 2 years too late though. Massive liability when you consider the amount of goals conceded from our left. I really hope we can get Banes or someone of equal or better defensive abilities.
Trennon
Sad to see Clichy go. Bit like Cashley, he goes with his best years ahead of him for someone else to benefit from. Simply put, when players are hitting their mid-20s and signing new contracts, they know it's their chance for a big power up financially and Arsenal won't pay those wages. I'm sure he's gone for money as for anything else. I don't see him as bad as people made out. It's not as though all our defensive problems were down to him.
Gooner_Vin
Much as I'd love to imagine the technical wizardry of Kevin Doyle tipping and tapping his way towards the goal line for Arsenal... LOL!
fifthcolumnblue
To be fair, Clichy's only going because he's a greedy ******** and they'd have offered him alot of money! As for Samir and Cesc, I hope to god that one of them stays with us, if they don't I really worry for our well being next season!
bear.imp
So Kieran Gibbs to move up?
Chelsea24/7
Would love us to sign Baines but there's literally no chance of Wenger doing that. Gibbs aint good enough and is too injury prone.
shewore
bear - I wouldn't say Clichy is greedy simply because he's moved to Man City. Like it or not, City are going places, they've got the money to do whatever it is they like .... and we've hardly shown signs of progression now have we? If we lose Cesc and Nasri we've lost almost all of our creative edge, unless we make some miraculous signings then we've fallen behind City, United and the Chavs, fighting for fourth place is what we will be restricted to without massive investment into the squad. I can't blame any player for wanting out. The scary thing for me is that we appear to be losing three first team players yet Eboue, Squillaci, Denilson and Almunia are still on the books. I don't mind admitting that I'm crapping it ahead of the new season.
Rocky7
You're not the only one Rocky. And the main reason for that is because all these players we're being linked with don't exactly make the panties drop. I can't remember when last we were linked with so many average players!
Trennon
No point slating Doyle cuz you're about to lose the core of your squad... regardless of whether you want Doyle or not, we ay selling. UP THE WOLVES !!
AdMant
AdMant, not to worry, Doyle is not good enough and will not be purchased. Its his agent stirring the tosh.
Deltaforce
Before anyone goes jumping on the "Clichy is a greedy Barsteward" bandwagon, perhaps you'd like to reflect on why he was allowed to run his contract down to only having a year left? Wenger/your board were hardly showing him the love now were they? We made much the same mistake with one of our highly rated youngsters, John Guidetti. The moral of the story is don't let players run their contracts down if you want to keep them!

Rocky Rocky O thou of little faith. Calm down, Stan is not a good business man and contrary to popular belief The Boss is not suddenly a poor Manager. Clichy was good but how many times has his mistakes cost us. The fellars going for the dosh good luck to him, but we can not replace him from within the players we have? Just take a chill pill, all will be revealed soon. The trouble is this bloody media is stirring the pot. According to them Theo Jack and RVP are waiting outside AW's door; give me a break. I do not for one moment believe that the club is going down the gurgler.

Sorry printed that twice like Ces has been sold twice.
alwaysgunner
I read an article the other day that compared Baines, Enrique and Clichy and it claimed that Clichy only made one mistake last season that led directly to a goal, now I don't know how true that is but if it's right it suggests he's not as iffy as we'd believe. AG - I've always had massive faith in Arsene Wenger ... Always ... it's just there's not much to put my faith into anymore really, I hope to be proved wrong as the summer goes on, but as it stands we're in some deep sh**.
Rocky7
Rocky true read the same report but it was mainly based on stats and we all know what happens when we rely on stats. Clichy IMO seems to have dropped off from his performances that he used to display when Cashy first left. But time will tell one of us will be proved to be right. I'm guessing it will be me, but hey I wear as you know rose coloured glasses. As they say let the games commence.
alwaysgunner
Rocky, just as one cant judge an incomplete play or movie script, judging our team and set up midway in the transfer season could be unwise. The management of our club are not the best perhaps but they are not muppets either.
Deltaforce
I think everyone should just calm down a bit and wait till the window ends. Civil unrest at this moment is not going to help in any way. If by the end of the window we haven't strengthened then we can stick it to AW or anyone in an administrative position at the club.
