Gervinho Confirmed a Gooner

Arsene Wenger has confirmed the signing of Lille forward, Gervinho.

In true Arsenal tradition, the transfer of the Ivorian has been a slightly drawn out affair, or at least it appears that way, however Arsene Wenger has now given confirmation that the player has signed.

Reports over the weekend had suggested that the deal had stalled and Gervinho returned to France, though AW made it clear he sent him home to be with his family for a couple of days.

'Gervinho has joined. He had a medical on Thursday."

'We sent him home for a couple of days because he has a family and children. He did not come because he has not had a session yet.'

Welcome to the club Gervinho, hope you have a long and prosperous career with us.

Welcome Gervinho. First order of business, SORT YER BARNET OUT!
Little Dutch
Perhaps, the reason why Eboue is still hanging about is to hand-hold his breaking in process? Gervinho is certainly no like his fellow Ivorian. Wish him a very good start to his career as that usually sets the tone.

Now now LD we don't wanna mess with that hair, remember what happened to Sagna when he changed his hair?? The freakier the hair the better they play, maybe we should have an entire team with wacky hair styles
Dberg
Dberg - Then how do you explain the extreme turdness of Abel Xavier?
Rocky7
haha Rocky. That was the first thing I thought of. That and Cisse! I just hope the african cup doesn't have the usual affect it seems to have on Ivorians
Trennon
Well there has to be one bad apple in there, although the various hairstyles of David James also come to mind.
Dberg
Adebayor has been a shadow of himself since he cut his hair

Long live silly hair! Silly hair and bad teeth, the two most important qualities in a player.
No 10
Good player Gervinho. Hope he adapts to our game fast.
Deltaforce
Passing it around the middle of the park while the opposition sit back and wait for us to run down blind alleys? I think he'll manage Delta.
Rocky7
:-) Gervinho hopefully will get behind the defenders unlike Bendtner or Arshavin on the flanks last season.
Deltaforce
Not enough Arsene...just not enough..
Sajit
But I think Gervinho will be a superb fit for Arsenal. More worried about losing Cesc and Nasri.. and not losing Denilson and Rosicky. \
Sajit
Finally been confirmed then, a good signing and hopefully he will fit straight in here!

why buy Gervinho yet keep Chamakh on the bench?
e dubbz
whether he has hair down to his ankles, no hair, an afro, a perm,or even a cheeky little pageboy cut i couldnt give a toss, as long as he fits in, and helps us win something please please help us win something
cornish gooner
e dubbz, Gervinho plays usually on the right flank and not as a central striker as Chamakh does. Chamakh is a backup for RvP while Gervinho would compete with Walcott or occasionally Arshavin.
Deltaforce
Why has Arsenal.com sunk to Chelsea levels by announcing the signing before ALL the liitle things have been sorted out?? Just to appease the fans?? If that is the case the PR chicks over at the club really need to be replaced.
Eboue=GOD
E=G. its not as bad as what Chelski did. They made shirts with Robinho's name before reaching a written agreement with Real Madrid. We have an agreement in writing with both the player and Lille. A work permit for an International footballer who appears in the majority of his home country's games is considered more or less a formality. That said, there is the element of attempting to appease the fans by making the announcement early.
Deltaforce
Looks a good signing, a lot of people have been comparing him to Pires. If he settles in quickly you've done a good bit of business, although his physique might not be up to the demands of places like Stoke and Bolton.
fifthcolumnblue
EBOUE=GOD, U are a very big retarted foolish idiot, we announce the players' transfer because we want our fans to know all about the team, I know you wouldn't understand because you & your coach are bunch of six-years-without-a-title freaks.....***** OFF *****...UR MOTHER'S A WHORE
YENUSCO
Gervinho is a poor man's neymar.Arsene Wenger is a poor man's Villas-Boas.
Dannism
@YENUSCO,thumbs up 2 u.that's what arsen*l fans r known for.if eboue is god,i wonder what dani alves is.
Dannism
Um...okay ^. Looks a very good signing for you lot, will at the very least motivate Arshavin to step up. What ever happened to that guy...
