Arsenal 'Certainly' Searching For New Defender

Arsene Wenger says he`s definitely looking to sure up the defence this summer and has been working "very hard" to do so.

Wenger`s comments come just a day or so after media reports suggest Arsenal had a bid of 10M rejected for Everton`s Phil Jagielka.

"Certainly, we will have to find one more defender," he said. "We [are] working on it."

"I can promise we work very hard on it. In fairness, everybody looks for players. Everybody looks for the same area and you see that nobody turns up with magic. It`s all about being steady, working very hard on it and being calm as well.'

He wouldn`t however, be drawn on any potential incoming players.

"I don`t want to comment individually because I do not want to destabilise clubs. I do not want to do to other clubs what some clubs do to us so I wouldn`t like to comment individually on any player."

Why don't u make urself available instead,Mr Rocky7?if players like djourou n squilacci can make the team,i see no reason why u couldn't,Mr Rocky7.

I can understand the need for a CB and English too. But at a 20m valuation for Jagielka, Wenger must will be forced to resort to type and go foreign. Trouble is there are a few clubs looking to scuttle any enquiries we make by offering more cash. Wenger has to move swiftly and discreetly, it would seem.

I really can't seeing Wenger paying 20m for a player that surely would be Koscielny's back-up.

Is it real that your scouts were in Jordan to see the Nepalese Centre back Rohit Chand ? The football in Nepal is really below par and not even at Asian standards so I am wondering how the heck this is possible ...

I haven't heard about this scouting mission but it only needs one player to be good - Georgia doesn't have great pedigree but Georgi Kinkladze was pretty good.

Not quite sure how Wenger thought bidding less would get him to be honest.

Don't no if Jag's the right player, out of the 3, Jag, Cahill and Samba I think Cahill would be the best signing, but saying that I've not really seen much of Jag since his big injury, before that I thought he was ace!
