Arsenal Sign World's Poshest Sounding Player

Arsene Wenger made good on his promise that Arsenal would do their best to sign more players before the start of the season by signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Southampton.

Oxlade-Chamberlain had been on Arsene Wenger`s radar all summer and even the player`s dad claimed Arsenal would be the best place for his son to play.

Wenger brings the stocky winger to Arsenal on the back of an 11 goal and 9 assists season for the Saints, and at a meagre 17 years of age (to put that into perspective Alex was only two months old when Andy Linighan score the winner in the FA Cup Final) that`s some pretty impressive stats.

With the Arsenal first team currently sporting a whole host of British names maybe now we can put to rest the misnomer that Arsene Wenger doesn`t like English players?

All that remains to be done is to have the transfer officially confirmed, and for the Gooners to come up with some kind of nickname, because his real moniker is far too much of a mouthful to be screaming on match days!

Welcome to Arsenal Alex, we hope your stay is a long and happy one.

Just in time for tea
ajwb
He goes straight into the first team squad which may mean that the club is not confident about Miyaichi getting a permit. Good signing. Comfortable on the ball, fast and hungry.
Deltaforce
He also doesn't count towards the 25 quota, leaving space for others......
Little Dutch
Never thought of that! Nice.

haha, another Baby of Wenger's, Walcott Mark 2 .......
the_blue_world
You are tempting fate there TBW. Btw, Walcott has scored twice against you, just saying.
Deltaforce
3 times. CC Final 07. Semi final 09. Last season.
Little Dutch
Walcott has done considering the pressure placed upon him, especially the last couple of seasons
Dberg
I stand happily corrected LD.

"Poshest sounding player".....Like the sound of that. For some reason, I am excited about this signing. To put it in perspective, just think of the clubs that were interested before Wenger stole a march on them all....
Naijagunner
forgetting club rivalry, Im really looking forward to seeing this boy play in the Prem. potentially a very good player and signing for you. perhaps not the player to yet take you instantly forward, but a signing that excites me from the football fan perspective.
