That's about as strong as we could expect considering. Would have prefered to see Walcott instead of Arshavin, but I'm sure that change will be made at some point.
Rocky7
Not many more options on the bench apart from Walcott with Chamakh's recent form and AOC being 'unknown' at this level
ajwb
At least we can forget about all this transfer bollix for 90 minutes and get behind the boys!
Rocky7
Hiiiiii everyone! :)

Decent opening 15 minutes of the new season. Newcastle aren't helping themselves though. Gervinho and Arshavin looking sharp.
Rocky7
Alex Song is quite possibly the dopiest footballer ever to live.
Rocky7
That's how frustrasting my Arsenal can be. 30 seconds to go in the half, free kick 35 yards from goal and we pass it back the half way line. WTF?
Rocky7
Very drab and not like Arsenal. Where is our sharp start and quick passing game we usually start the season with? I predicted we would have a slow start to the season but not of such lethargic proportions. No one willing to take responsibility, team is shorn of all confidence and appears more interested in protecting the back than scoring. Scars of last season's encounter at same venue, perhaps. 2nd half just has to get better or we may just find every middle table side taking a chance against us. Maybe, we should play for the draw and exorcise the ghosts.

If we're gonna get a red can someone actually please punch the daylights out of that pikey hitler haired cvnt?

Lost in all of this is that Gervinho didn't dive. It was a ******** PENALTY!
gunnerkid107
Nah blatant dive.
nikolaijns
christ, walcott is appalling.
nikolaijns
gervinho is early to the beach with barton playing lifeguard..lol
rovinella62spurs
Nope, Gervinho clearly gets caught on the left foot. Watch it again from the endline camera angle. Blatant penalty. Not a dive.
gunnerkid107
Minimal minimal contact, was looking for it all the way, blatant dive.
nikolaijns
This was the cock that some Arsenal fans wanted us to sign to give us some British grit? Please don't want him near the club
Dberg
The spirit in the team just wasn't right today. The players just weren't interested in stroking the ball about, at pace and just didn't trouble their keeper. It isn't about new signings, this; this is about motivation lacking in the side. Well, much to build upon, going forward. vs Udinese must be a better outing and the fans must show some patience otherwise, we could be responsible for the crumbling of our own team.

So what else is new? :)

Give it up GK - That's exactly the same as Pires against Pompey a couple of years ago. People need to get out of this mindset that contact warrants a penalty. Football is a contact sport, to warrant a foul/penalty the contact needs to be enough to bring the player down or sufficiently gain an advantage. If you think that was enough contact then I'm sorry but that just wrong. Proper professional dive that one. Unlike the pathetic effort he got away with on the touch line in the first half.
Rocky7
Liked the way Gervinho, Arshavin and RvP switched positions and then Walcott as well with Gervinho at the end. It was creativity from midfield that was lacking today. Signing absolutely necessary in that region. Jadson, Mata. Both or either of them would do.

You all don't play much football do you? It doesn't take much to take you down when you are changing directions like Gervinho was. The weight of his body was unbalanced. Penalty.
gunnerkid107
What was the deal with the Arsenal-Barton love-in at the end of the game. Just shows our players are gutless wonders - hugging that little anus! Not one of us stood up and told him he's a little knut.
Will-i-am10
Actually Szczesny did. He was actually booked for calling Barton a ****. Haha. Good man Chezzers

Saw someone's post on Twitter saying that. Not sure how far that's true
