Just when you think things couldn`t get any better, both Arsenal and Alex Song have been charged by the FA.
The season's opener at St James Park against Newcastle ended in controversy after, in my opinion, Gervinho tried to win a penalty. The result of which was mass confrontation between both sets of players and resulted in clash amongst most players on the pitch.
The confrontation finished with both teams being charged with failing to control their players by the FA.
Alex song was also charged with violent conduct for his stupid stamp on Joey Barton (if you`re going to do it, do it right and aim for the neck).
Arsene Wenger also risks having an extra game ban heaped upon new boy Gervinho as he attempts to appeal the three game ban for his red card.
The FA Statement said 'Newcastle United and Arsenal have been charged by The FA with failing to control their players following Saturday's fixture at St James' Park.
'Both clubs have been charged following a mass confrontation of players following an incident in which Arsenal's Gervinho was also shown a red card in the 75th minute.
'Following Gervinho's dismissal Arsenal have lodged a claim that the standard punishment of a three-match suspension is clearly excessive. A Regulatory Commission will hear the claim on 16 August.
'Meanwhile Arsenal's Alex Song has been charged separately by The FA with violent conduct following an incident earlier in the same fixture.
'Both clubs have until 1600 BST on 18 August to respond to the charge, whilst Song must reply by 1800 on 16 August.'
