Deadline Day Madness

For once in our lives it appears that a deadline day is not only going to be active, but very important for us, so instead of sitting and looking through the windows of other glaring in jealously at their new bike or Playstation, we're going to get to have some fun of our own.

I'll be updating the article as the day progresses with every single piece of transfer news and rumours, now matter how flimsy.

So if speculation and fantasy football really isn't your thing I suggest steering clear of this thread.

Let the fun and games commence.

8:30am Reports emerging that Arsene Wenger is out of bed with a determined look on his face.

8:54am Arsenal are reported to be ready to smash their record transfer fee with a £25M bid for Rennes powerhouse M'Vila

8:56am Sky Sports News confirm reporters have seen Nicklas Bendtner's father/agent at Stoke City's training ground.

9:16am Ladbrokes claim that Fulham's Clint Dempsey and Everton's Mikel Arteta also top Wenger's shopping list.

10:39am Arsenal new boy Joel Campbell looks set to join Lorient on a season long loan after failing to secure a work permit.

10:44am West Ham join the chase for Henri Lansbury as the player searches for 1st team football.

12:54pm Arsenal are apparently waiting on hearing about Marvin Martin after inquiring about the playermaker.

13:13pm Reports coming in that Stoke City have decided Nicklas Bendtner is just far too awesome for the to sign and B52 will return to the Gunners.

17:30pm Sky Sports News claim Arsenal are about to lodge a £10Million bid for Everton's Mikel Arteta.

18:46pm Reports of Arsenal talking to Chelsea's Benayoun about a possible loan deal.

19:20pm As quickly as it started, it appears the move for Arteta is off!

**bounces excitedly on parents bed demanding presents**
It was much funnier when you had a tumbleweed on this page...
Owen Hargreeves passes City medical?! What sort of moron runs their medical facility up there? They must have signed our medical staff too.
Mertesacker is an outstanding bit of business for you lot especially when Cahill was the alternative.
Stick around Bluebanes it may well still make an appearance. The presents I opened yesterday in the form of Per Mer, Santos and Chu I've played with to death and am bored with already. Now wake up and give me the playmaker I've been demanding for months **boing**
It's only for the African Nations cup when Yaya will be absent Rocky, sellotape him up and roll him off the table for a month then discard in typical ruthless £iteh fashion.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Mertesacker in his elongated Arsenal shirt later!
Maybe they'll have to draft in the giant shirt that the fans unveiled that covers most of the stand.
The rugby team is not good enough for NB52. He deserves better.
My dad's richer than your dad but I'm really scared he'll get ripped off again for the lastest ActionMan whose head will just fall off when I start playing with him. Dad can be silly sometimes. I wonder where Vital Everton's deadline day thread is...lump of coal and tin of spam in that Christmas stocking.
How about we sell kalou, ferreira, & malouda to you guys? Nice huh?
If that's all that's on offer Eboue=GOD then you just have to hold your hands up and say that's reality folks! I know he's been played horribly out of position but this is the stark truth, clubs just obviously do not rate him.
I'd take alex Midastouchjay but the rest of them? sod that! Benayoun too no thanks! Kalou is awful, is ferreira still alive? and Malouda is 31 and still has never lived up to expectation.
BlueBanes - I saw something on Twitter yesterday that made me chuckle. "Everton are so poor they can't even afford rumours" ... lol
Niko - I'd take Malouda as long as we'd already got M'Vila and Vargos in place. Not a bad bench warmer :)
Sorry, but cannot help but feel there is a distinct hint of panic in Arsenal buying or attempting to buy so many players on the last day of the window. Players like Mertesacker will undoubtedly improve you no end, but why have you waited until now to get so many in?
NB will probably do well at Stoke though. He could exploit Throwy Delap's abilities. I think he'll do well there and move to a bigger club from there on. He's a decent player. Not the best(as he thinks) but still capable of making a good career for himself.
FCB - Wenger always waits till the last day or two. It's f***ing annoying, but that's the way it is.
I don't know about panic as these are obviously all players that have been on our radar some time fcb. There is undoubtably opportunism involved due to Monacos' relegation and fenerbahces match fixing ban, the 8-2 result has inadvertently done us a pretty big favour in my view as a 3-1 loss would not have resulted in half of the activity. Even if half of these signings don't work out at least something was tried, and with the exception of cesc and nasri gooners are pretty much unanimous that the remaining leaving players had to go, who is to say things wouldn't have been done sooner had Barca and Nastis' agent not acted like utter lowlifes the whole window long?
Rocky - lol! Shame.
Well I say fenerbahce but theres no further news on Juan 'El Loco' Vargas is there?
I dunno we have sorted Gervinho, Jenkinson, Oxlade Chamberlain and Joel Campbell early this year, again this rush is down to Cesc and Na$ti and that we were cocked around by various parties. Although enough time has passed for us to know cesc at least wouldn't be around.
One thing I have noticed is that Wenger ties up all the young signings early on in the Summer, and leaves the more experienced ones for later on. PS - "El Loco" plays for Fiorentina .... it's Santos we got from Fener.
Why do the scum always try to sign who we are signing, It seems as if their scouts have no other job to do other than follow ours. The hashtag #alwaysinourshadow applies to this situation as well.
A beautiful article title "Arsenal set for transfer rampage!" - Just got pictures of an angry looking Wenger shouting "GET ME PLAYERS!!"
sorry meant fior!
E=G, I actually believe that's why Wenger leaves his stuff late (Not for Spurs though, for Chelsea and City), to makes sure the smallest amount of time available for these teams to scupper our moves.
Apparently Keisuke Honda is in London and simultaneously he's on a flight to Paris. That's what we need. A player who can be in two places at once.
Yeah but I don't actually believe that Arsene CHOOSES to leave it late. He would prefer to conclude his business early in the window. But the state of the market is just such that there's no movement early. Everything comes to a head at the end of the window. He just has no other option. If he tries earlier in the window to sign players he gets scuppered by others like you said.
Seems like our transfer target strategy is to take advantage of clubs that are struggling financially or otherwise. We simply have to buy a top quality midfielder.
or wait til they're in a medical for another club then sneak in with two henchmen and throw a sack over them Vin.
yes, Niko, that'd be Plan B. News seems to have all dried up about incomings (other than Santos and Mertesacker). We've obviously left it too late for a midfielder. Who'd of thought that.
Franck Ribery now?
Don't give up vin, 12 hours in a transfer window is more than enough. Wenger specifially cited midfield as the most important place to strengthen, I doubt he'd sign a striker and two defenders and forget about that. it's probably taking longer because it'll be more high profile and harder to tie up. If Vargas arrives I'll do a bit of sex-wee
Reports from the Italian press are saying it's pretty much tied up Rocky for a fee of 10 mill.
Shame. Sky after all their poncy so called 'understanding' have no idea of this deal going through today
marvin martin coming?
We may yet have to change the headline to deadline day Mehness.
fantasy football: fellaini (20 mil), m'vila (25 mil), martin (15 mil), gotze (30 mil) & hazard (35 mil). budget = 65 mil. make your choices
Easy Gotze and Hazard 65 on the nose, now back to reality as neither are coming Joe!
True Rocky. Is this Vargas guy good? Never heard of him.
hazard coming? rumour:
Nice tits ^
Let's all run away now. Andre Santos looks like he's going to go on one brutal killing spree.
I dont really want Cahill..but I dont want Spurs to get him either..
Official, Arsenal confirm signing of Mertesacker
Skysports claiming sources close to club are to table 10m bid for Arteta, seem a little low to me, any thoughts?
Following Kroenke's majority control of the club there have been signings of some quality players who also have immense marketing potential in countries where Arsenal need to improve their presence and commercial revenues. Park and Miyaichi will have a positive impact on Arsenal's brand in South Korea and Japan. Extending the same kind of logic of a quality player with marketing potential in a position where the club could do with improvement, I am closely following the fortunes of Clint Dempsey today. He can play on the right, left or in the centre behind the striker and would satisfy the commercial team appetite for a US star at the club. Thinking of waging a fiver on the thought now.
Can you like leave us alone please? Can you not find any other targets apart from Everton players? I dont think Kenwright (chairman) has the balls to accept the bid of 10mil because he knows he will be crucified by the fans and he isnt the most popular person going round right now
Rob, unlike many clubs we will simply make a bid and if refused will move on. Unlike some clubs we wont call the agent of the player directly before we negotiate with Everton! You said no for Jagielka at 12 million and you didn't hear a word from Arsenal after that. Refusing the bid we make is your choice so I dont see what the fuss is about.
Sorry Rob but According to Guillem Balague (I know, I know) if Arsenal can agree terms with Arteta then the deal will happen. But on the plus side for you guys he claims that Everton will be signing Drenthe.
Ok this sucks... Tottenham are very close to signing Cahill..Come on Arsene..Hate to see a gooner in scum shirt. Please!
no bit names then whats going on.
The awkward moment when Niklas Bendtner finds out that the only club with real interest in him comes Hammersmith and Fulham
All you can say about the Arsenal management at the moment is that it's very unimpressive. To not adequately replace Cesc and Nasri is poor in the extreme. Our midfield is very weak.
This is the problem of waiting till the last minute. No excuses. Consequences have to be faced.
Arteta move back on?
Waiting till last chance saloon to buy quality replacement for the our midfield is crazy and a testament to poor planning. I just hope we can succeed in getting a class player into the midfield as we not exactly flush with quality options.
ARTETA SIGNS according to Sky !!!!!
