'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Arsenal - The Season Starts Here

So the Internationals are all but over, the transfer window is closed, we have new players in our side, and the Old Trafford debacle is firmly behind us.

The season starts here.

There`s no getting away from the fact that we`ve dropped 8 points in three games, and considering that came on the back of an horrific end of season run in last term, little to no movement in the transfer market, and two almost debilitating summer transfer sagas.

But this is a different Arsenal team now (frustrating injury woes aside), we`ve brought in lots of talent and experienced players, we`ve got Frimpong back from suspension and a tidy little match to ease us into our "new season".

The Gooners in attendance at Old Trafford we just about the most awe-inspiring and majestic things I`ve ever heard in football, and if we can recreate that against Swansea and the boys put in a great performance and get 3 points on the board then we can start working towards getting results and working our way up the table.

It`s abundantly clear that we are going to have our work cut out for fourth place, and that sugar-daddies have made it nigh-on impossible to compete for the title, but fresh faces and a new sense of urgency can see us make a real fist of it this season.

If the new players bed in quickly and play to the standards we know they`re capable of then this could turn out to be a decent season despite our hideous start.

Up the Arsenal.

The first team of the club looks good but we will miss 4 first team starters in Gervinho, Vermaelen, Song and Wilshere against Swansea. As ever the frustration is about when we will see a fully fit and full strength Arsenal side. Central midfield wears a depleted look right now and I would be happy to welcome even Diaby back, we need all the hands we can get on deck. Looking forward to Saturday.

Central midfield of Frimpong, Ramsey and Arteta against Swansea, if that's not good enough to beat them we may as well give up now. lol

While I worry about our injuries I have to admit I'm a bit more optimistic about this team's abilities to deal with injury than I have in the past. While Cesc was amazing, our entire setup was based on his strengths. When he was out we struggled miserably. I think this team has more balance. Arteta, Ramsey, and Frimpong should be able to cope with Swansea. We'll have Song and Gervinho back soon. I'm looking forward to a season where we'll battle for 3rd/4th place in the league and make a couple of good cup runs. If I remember correctly, United's recent success started with success in the domestic cups.

In addition to Rocky's list, we still have Rosicky and Benayoun for the attacking midfield places. Surely, that should be good enough to take on Swansea; It is not going to be an easy game though. History has it they beat us the last time they gained promotion. That's it there; wanted to get that out of the way and break any chance of a jinx.

I'd take 1-0 right now if it was on offer.

Come on. We need a convincing win after what happened in the last game. Hope RvP and Arteta will have a great game.

I am as optimistic as the next guy about our offensive midfield options but its the defensive midfield options that are a cause for concern in the absence of Song and Diaby. Frimpong is an added bonus to the squad this year if he comes good, we cant count on him as an established player in the first team squad currently as thats too high an expectation.

Song is only out for one more game, so I think this game is ideal for Frimpong to get in some game time. If he can boss the game against Liverpool he can certainly do it vs Swansea. I'm going for 4-0.

This is the first game this season that you would think 'three points on the board for sure'. And I think that's going to happen with the new boys coming in as well. Personally hoping for a drubbing tomorrow. 6-0 wouldn't be too much to expect I believe. We did it to Blackpool last season. No saying we couldn't do it again to an inexperienced defence at this level. Would bring our goal difference as well back to square one.
