Wilshere Out For 'Months'

Our annual injury blow has struck once again and as usual, has struck with venom.

I can`t remember the last season where we didn`t have one key player out for a massive period of time. Vermaelen, van Persie, Fabregas Rosicky all have had their turns at being struck down by seemingly simple injuries that kept them out for large chunks of the season.

Unfortunately it`s now the turn of Jack Wilshere.

Jack suffered an innocuous ankle injury in pre-season, and after a period on the sidelines trying to let it heal naturally, the medical staff have decided surgery is now the way to go.

Arsenal.com say the player will be out for "a period of months"

The fact that they can`t determine how many months is frankly scary. I understand they don`t want to commit to a time scale only for supporters hopes to be dashed, but "a period of months" has massive scope to increase.

I hope Jack gets back on his feet and kicking a ball as soon as possible.

He got this injury due to a kick, which could have happened to him in the 1st 10 games, so the comment above is quite irrelevant. This is a massive blow for Arsenal and Wilshere, I was hoping he would kick on from a great 1st season. This season is pretty much a write off for Wilshere, even if he makes it back by Jan, it will take time for him to get to full match fitness and the form of last season.
