Experience & Captain Quality Will See Us Through

Arsene Wenger has said the experienced signings he made in the summer will see Arsenal over the line once they gel with the squad.

Speaking to arsenal.com Wenger said that in previous years a common criticism was a lack of leaders on the pitch, but that will no longer apply with the arrival of Mertesacker, Arteta, Benayoun, Park and Santos.

'Sometimes we are reproached for not having enough captains in our squad, now we have plenty. Overall we have more experience and this could be important if we are in a strong position come March or April. That could have a big part to play. Also last year we lost important players in March and April because we went for all the trophies, so hopefully we have the squad to do it and this time it will happen.'

Wenger also says that whilst he's delighted with his captures, it's a case of time will tell if they were the right ones.

'I'm very happy with the signings we made and my challenge now is to prove that I made the right decisions. I have great belief in the players I brought in and I am convinced they will prove me right.'
