'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Top Four Is Crucial For Arsenal

Per Mertesacker told Arsenal's official matchday programme that it was vital the club finish in the Top 4 come the end of the season.

'It's vital that we reach at least the top four in the league, but at the moment we don't have the points to speak about that. It's important to perform well to make sure we move up the table. The supporters have to feel we are giving everything to succeed.'

Quotes from Sky Sports.

Sunderland was a good start for that, we now need to see more 3 points going on the board.

despite a shaky start, I still think you'll be in the mix come the end of the season. Any of you gunners think otherwise?
The Fear
Impossible to tell Mr The Fear, for every corner we turn there's a blind alley we stumble blindly into getting a damn good kicking in the process. We look capable of winning every game and throwing every game often in the same half. We're reliant on a forward who is likely to break down anytime anywhere and a 17 yr old manchild who is out for half the season. We have a keeper capable of incredible saves then dashing suicidally out of his box like the goalmouth told him it would nom him for lunch. We bought a striker in the summer and have no intention it seems of ever playing him even when we're trailing games it's preferred to stick our CB up top, we are as abject at defending set plays as we are at taking them (RVPs wonder strike aside). I think it will be a minor miracle to achieve top 4 with this bunch and the worrying thing is I just know the players feel the same. Just too much loss of quality too rapidly and too frequently for us to think about being in the mix in my view. Only 6 point off top 4 I know and a long way to go and I hope the worst is over and the squad will gel. But as a brutal realist I think 5th/6th.
nikolaijns
Interesting times nikolaigns, cheers for the answer ! We slipped down the pecking order after 92, (we were second) and never really recovered. So big season for your boys for sure. Then again, those under and around aren't really doing anything special, all a much of a much, so that should help!
