Wenger Names Squad For Holland Trip

Arsene Wenger has named his 18-man squad that travelled to Holland for the last 16 tie of the Champions league.

The good news is that Gallas has suffered no setback after his return against Blackburn at the weekend, the bad news is that there is no recognised right-back in the squad.

However, all 4 centre backs named can play there. Kolo Toure played there as his Arsenal career took off, Johan Djourou has played there several times, Big Phill Senderos started out as a right back and Billy Gallas played there for the s**t team in Fulham before he moved to the red side.

Squad in full:

1 Jens Lehmann (GK)
4 Cesc Fabregas
5 Kolo Toure
6 Philippe Senderos
7 Tomas Rosicky
8 Fredrik Llungberg
9 Julio Baptista
10 William Gallas
13 Alexander Hleb
14 Thierry Henry (C)
15 Denilson
16 Mathieu Flamini
19 Gilberto
20 Johan Djourou
22 Gael Clichy
24 Manuel Almunia (GK)
25 Emmanuel Adebayor
30 Jeremie Aliadiere

no walcott no hoyte, saving them for the CC final on sunday? we are only 2 short of our strongest side, taking into account hleb and gallas are coming back from injuries, its only Eboue and RVP we are missing from our strongest 11

Apparently PSV have a bit of a problem at left-back, so we shouldn't get too much traffic onto our right side - or they will be exposed for us to finish them off. Let's hope this is true...

If they have problems at left back god help them if Hleb plays!

Le Boss has proved once again why he is such a genius. with eboue injured, playing hoyte away in the champions league could leave the defence a little lightweight. djourou gives us a good physical presence and has done well whenever he's played at right back. din think wenger is saying hoyte for the Carling Cup, he's selected the best side keeping in mind our opponents and the competition. Le Boss you're simply a legend..

Hleb is playing Iceman. i think he'll go with a 4-5-1 with either Freddie or Rosicky as the second striker..

Good to see Hleb back in the squad. I'd really like to see Denilson get on the pitch at some point. For me he has been this seasons major surprise. Lets just hope that tomorrow is where Henry starts to play football again!!!

hoyte has a hamstring injury it seems - djourou would be strong at RB or gallas to continue his comeback - wenger should go 4-4-2 with beast starting along side henry, he will be deadly in Europe where the pace is slower and they dont play so hard/close Gavaldinho - you certainly told us! make a ***** comment with no basis loosely tied to something i said, youre a genius i tell the!

Look at the sad scummer he thinks we cheated them out of the Carling cup final by playing a few 1st teamers how dare we! Denilson is our 4th choice centre mid and he's better than Zakora, Huddle20stone, Jenas and Tainio, Diaby played 2 games in a year and outshone your shower of s*@t. Almunia is 2nd choice, Walcott is a 17, Traore is 17, Hoyte is our 2nd left back, Senderos is our 4th choice centre back, Aliadiere is our 5th choice forward and Baptista our 4th choice. They all knocked you the f*@k out!

lol iceman they've been bitter for the past few decades now. lets leave them alone in their misery. we have a champions league game to look foward to, something that they havent had for millions of years, and they probably never will..

wait till bolton do spuds at white trash lane, then it will be normal quiet service resumed ! i reckon flamini at RB will be the ticket, but i reckon on wenger playing 4-4-2 with adebayor up with Thierry.. what i like about us currently is our strength.. toure, sendoros, gilberto, adebayor, baptista and denilson look so strong and don't get pushed around, something that has deffo changed this year and will prove good for us and the future.

i thnk a 4-5-1 formation will be good since rosicky anyway is a central atacking mid feilder plus ljunberg has lots of goals in em...n hleb is also VERY capable of knocking a few in...n if we need we always have adebayor to support henry....CL GLORY WILL BE OURS !!!!!!

I think Le Boss will play Gallas in RB since he has more experience in that position & more adaptive to positional change compared to others. Our backline could be Gallas, Toure, Sanderos & Clichy. 4-5-1 for away CL tie as usual, midfield: Ljungberg, Hleb, Gilberto, Cesc & Rocisky. Henry as lone striker.

My hunch is Ade will only come on in the later stage of the game. He would be our main man for the CC final.

I doubt Ade will play the CC final, and i wont be surprised if he's on the bench tomorrow. I think Henry will be alone upfront, but we've looked dangerous with 5 in midfield before. Hleb, Rosicky and Cesc can all create some good chances and freddie may also be in there. so 4-5-1 may not be a bad idea.

I wouldn't fancy Gallas up against Kone, Toure's Ivory Coast team-mate (probably mispelt that). If he was fully fit then I would say Gallas everyday of the week, but not having only played 60 mins football in 3 months. Kone is a flying machine with decent skill & shot. I think he should stick with Djourou in that position & play Gallas in his preferred centre-back position.

i think ade will start against psv, will be on the bench for CC final. As for no recognised right back, let's not forget that as well as Djourou having played there before, Kolo played a few games at rigth back early on in his career... guys, can i just say that, regarding these spud retards who come on here as WUMs, probably better off ignoring them, if no one gives a rat's arse about their lame-arse comments, they'll feel like right w@ankers, deprived of the attention they seek, even more so than they do already... »»Arsene Knows««

Totally agree with Puregold on the strength points, plus Diaby. Don't worry about the Spurs comments! They're under a bit of pressure at the moment, what with their fight for a top 10 finish and all that so I guess that we'll have to bear with them. Ashburton, I'm also with you on the Gallas issue. Pace will be very important tomorrow and Djorou has bags of it. I also think that his (Djorou) rate of recovery when he is beaten by players is nothing short of miraculous. Looking at him this season, I'm certain that he's modelling himself on Kolo. I'm actually a bit worried about the Gallas situation at the moment. I think that he's lost some of his pace which scares me a bit if he's playing in any of the full back positions, and I'm not quite sure how he'd fit into central defence due to the height issues. Kolo has to play, end of, but if Gallas played alongside him I think we'd be lacking a bit of height. No denying Gallas probably has the experience to make up for these things and maybe when he's fully fit, it might help to shake off my doubts. I honestly think that our 1st choice back four will be Eboue, Djorou, Toure, Clichy, and hopefully we'll be able to hang on to Hoyte, Senderos and Traore as they will be so essential with fixture congestion. Unless Gallas gets first team football I think he'll be gone!

I highly doubt this will happen as Henry is definitely going to play, but I'm sorta hoping Ade and Ali up front. Aliadiere definitely isn't our top choice striker, but something about him and Ade up front makes sense to me. Well, there's always the CC final to hope for. As for right back, I'm hoping Djourou will fill that spot.

I don't know about any of you, but I think that for all his qualities and potential as a top class defender, Senderos has lost a bit of the confidence he exuded in last year's run to the final. I think Gallas at Center with Kolo and have Clichy and Djourou at LB/RB .

agree with you, my Kenyan companion! and when Eboue is fit, he takes RB, and with Gilberto shielding them, we should be difficult to score against. You guys seriously think Freddie will play? He's been dissappointing...
