Koscielny Improving All The Time

Arsene Wenger has lauded Laurent Koscielny's display against Chelsea and said he is going from strength to strength.

Speaking to arsenal.com Wenger described him as quick, sharp and somebody who reads the game very well for his age.

'He is 25, I believe he is a top centre back. He goes from strength to strength. He is quick, sharp and reads the game well.'

It's the second time in a row Koscielny has come in for strong praise from the manager recently, and it's fully deserved. He and Mertesacker seem to be developing a half decent understanding of each other now.

Makes a nonsense of this summers ranting that we should have signed Samba, Cahill, Scott Dann or last summers Hangelaand or whoever was the current favoured 'no-nonsense' centre back at the time doesn't he.

I think Sacker is developing and getting better, he is no doubt a good CB with great credentials but I do think Samba would've hit the ground running and not needed the same settling in period. Now we've got him I'll back him fully but I'll be very happy to TV and Kos boss the back for a little while now.

Not sure about that, the jury's still very much out on Merts & I think someone like Cahill wouldn't have been as at fault as he has for goals this season. kudos to Kos tho, looking good

One has to be a Bolton fan to really know the value of Cahill. We dont minutely analyse the performance of Cahill after each game he plays while we do that for Mertesacker. Mert is a superior tackler, better positioned but worse in the air than Cahill. However, Koscielny wasnt the best in the air when he joined us either. Give Mert some time and am sure he will utilise his imposing frame better in the air as well.

Yeah i certainly hope so, not sure about the positioning tho a couple of times that's exactly what's cost us goals e.g. lampard's on Sat. I have seen some positives from him tho he reads the game very well for example

John Terry has been considered by many (England managers, at least) to be one of the best centre-backs in the world, but looked a proper tit against Arsenal; every player makes mistakes.

D-T Terry was very good but he is on a rapid downhill slide. A quote from the ES yesterday 'he is looking more and more like he has lost that yard of pace he never had', that's probably why he took a dive rather than get shown up for pace.

I liked it. I've watched the highlight again (a few times now) the more I see it the more I actually think he dives. Seriously.

Oh definitely, there's something fishy about it. he doesn't clip his own heels or anything... seems to lose his footing AFTER he's already going down... very odd.
