Walcott Deserves Praise For Assists

Robin van Persie has hailed the importance of Theo Walcott's work on the pitch and said the assists are just as important as the goals.

Speaking to arsenal.com the Dutchman said that he wouldn't be getting the goals if it wasn't for the assists that he was being handed, and it's only fair that Theo gets his fair share of the praise.

'Theo has given me more assists than anyone else this year, I've certainly noticed it and that's why I really liked the fact that he gave me the ball for my 100th goal - it was meant to be.'

RVP adds that it should also be a two way street, and he's hoping to turn provider for Walcott and others as the season goes on.

'Hopefully I can give him some proper assists as well, because as a striker I believe assists are just as important as the goals you score.'

That young man has surely improved his game. Certainly this is not the Walcott I used to know

I have always had faith in the lad. I don't think it is a coincidence that since Fabregas has gone theo is starting to shine. With Fabregas all our play was through him and the middle of the park. Our style of play has had to change, we are a lot more direct....we seem to be using the channels a lot more instead of tippy tappy through the middle, with Gervinho and theo and obviously RVP reaping the rewards with this more direct approach (we are actually taking advantage of the pace we have on the wings) all be it a 433. Our style of play now reminds me of the days of freddie and pires.......also I think Arteta has been a fantastic signing for us, he is massively underrated but has given us a much more solid and disciplined midfield.
