Santos Adjusting Nicely To Premiership

Andre Santos has said that he feels he is adjusting to Premiership life nicely after getting a run of games in the first team.

Speaking to arsenal.com the Brazilian left back said he was enjoying life in the first team, and the run of games has done him the world of good.

'I believe I needed a little run of games to get used to everything. I feel a lot better on the pitch now, I'm learning to position myself better and to read the game better as well. All of this comes with experience.'

Santos adds that he wishes to thank everybody who has helped him since moving to the club.

'I'm very well and feeling really good at Arsenal. I would like to thank everyone that helped me to get here, everyone at the club now, and the fans - who are always behind us.'

Andre's so funny. Love his tweets. And I love his little smartcar!

Yeah it's hard to dislike this guy. His defending can be scarey at times, but he's only been here a short while, and hopefully he'll improve with time.

He is an accident waiting to happen but I absolutely love him. His tackling is excellent and his attacking instinct is there for all to see. He seems naturally confident and clearly believes in his own talent (how many times has he played the ball across our 18 yard line!). As far as I’m concerned, he’s a great buy. Jaelle, do you still have the same opinion of him from the summer?

Sir Henry. I was actually saving that question for the end of the season. Jaelle did give us all something to worry about in her assessment of Santos when he was brought in (and Jaelle will usually be correct, trust me). For me, I have no complaints with the man so far, though he has needed his team mates to cover for him a good few times, but that is usually because he is returning from one of his marauding runs upfield. I also like the way he dispossesses the opponent of the ball in one-on-one situations. It may be too early yet but, so far, it has been so good for him.

Hes ok.. Probably on the same level as Clichy. But not a step up from Gael.

Santos is a definite upgrade on Clichy - and I liked Clichy - but as a footballer Andre is on another level. I don't buy this defensive weakness slant at all. I think he's a very good defender but because he is such a good player going forward, with much greater vision and subtlety to his game than Gael could ever have, there seems to be a suspicion that he can't be good at both. That's a misconception in my view. But we're short on creativity and Santos also helps to plug that creative deficit. If that means Arteta and Song and others have to be more defensively aware then he's talented enough to make that worthwhile.
