We Draw AC Milan In Proper European Competition

The Champions League draw today had a certain inevitability about it. Indeed only last night Tim Stillman tweeted his prediction that unfortunately came to pass.

Forgetting the fact that these draws are completely at random, it seemed as though every man, woman, child and K9 knew it would be AC Milan. When looking at all the other possibilities it just didn`t feel like we were going to draw them.

It`s going to be a tough tie, it really is, but historically we`ve done well in Italy and against AC Milan. We travel well to that part of the world and perform well at home against the Italians (3-1 spanking at home against Inter put to one side).

So it`s going to be another exiting tie in the Champions League, and whilst it could have been better it certainly could have been worse.

"How?" I hear you cry "They were probably the hardest team we could have drawn!"

Well we could be playing some tiny Ukrainian team on Channel 5 on a Thursday night, or worse still, not involved in Europe at all.

So it`s not all bad is it?

Tough team...But hey who wants to play Basel and go out. ;)

Tough team; it would be a battle of attrition, which we should egde. I agree, it could be worse :-)

Hmm, yet another tough draw for us.
Sir Henry
I think the first goal in the away leg will be crucial. Although they're a significantly better attacking side than when we last played them, I believe we're also a significantly better defensive side, although our ball retention capabilities have been somewhat reduced. If we can get ourselves in front, I'd back us to hold shape and hit Milan at pace on the counter. I just hope we can find a bit more creativity in the final third ourselves, because our goalscoring potential when the game isn't so stretched is looking very limited at the moment.
