Merry Boxing Day

Every year since 2005 I`ve posted a "Merry Christmas" message on Vital Arsenal for all our readers, but for the first time since the inception of the Vital Network, in 2011 I forgot.

For this I can only apologise.

It`s not that I don`t wish you all a Merry Christmas, it`s that so much alcohol and fine foods were consumed that my already frail memory failed me once again.

So on this, my second favourite day of the year, I`d like to wish you all a Merry Boxing day, and a happy bonus Bank Holiday for all those residing in England.

I hope you all had a cracking Christmas day and got loads of Arsenal goodies.

Enjoy your turkey sandwiches.

:)

Not to pile pressure on the lads but we should take advantage of Chelsea's slip up while also putting daylight between us and Liverpool. COYG!!!

Hi fellow North Londoners, just looking DOWN the table and saw you struggling along below us. It seems you will be in a straight fight for 4th spot this year with the Chav's, but somehow I can't see you making CL next year. Never mind the rest will do you good. Oh yeah, Happy New Year, Up the Wolves. COYS!

We controlled this game early on and should really be looking to score a 2nd and 3rd instead of settling into our usuall passing game in our half. Why does the team lack that killer instinct that seeks to bury teams like Wolves? 5-0 wasn't out of reach today, in my view and all we have done is let them back in and now, even sensing they may have a chance. We have to step things up in the 2nd half and play for plenty of goals.

Henessy was in inspired form but I feel we should have cranked things up when we went ahead in the 1st half instead of passing around in our half. This was Wolves after all , for Gawd's sake (no disrespect there, but you know what I mean).

game like this decides the top 4 & we deserved what we got. after we scored the 1st goal, we should have more urgency to seek for the second when wolves opened up. unfortunately, we were more interested in playing those 60 successive side-way passing until we conceded. there was just no passion. we should sub a more direct player i.e. chamberlain to complement gervinho at the other flank. wasted 2 points

Wolves put so many men behind the ball, it makes it so frustrating when the players try to play their way through a crowded penalty box. They should have taken a few shots early on, perhaps, a fortuitous deflection. 2nd half performance was good, urgency was there, as was an inspired keeper. RvP's finishing was a bit tentative on a couple of occassions, wasn't decisive enough. Fair point, should have tried harder early on to close the game. Wolves played for a point from kick off.

Their Keeper was Brilliant! Such a Shame that we couldn't find a Winner! Maybe the record is playing on RvP's mind?!!

Yep! Would expect that the record plays on his mind but he is a big player and did his decent bit, never displaying a selfish intent where there was a pass on. It was more of the tight marking and dirty tackles on him by the Wolves defenders that put him off a few times. Then again, that is where his teammates needed to come in and ease the pressure on him by getting more goals and allow him exploit the openings that would have come with Wolves chasing the game.

You could sense the team just sat back after going ahead and thinking we'll just go ahead and coast and win this. Doing back heels in your own half being symptomatic of complacency/overconfidence creeping into our game. It was the kind of game that you just now a team like Man Utd at home would have found a way to win. The only saving grace is that there'll be many more twists and turns in the race yet. The basis of a very good team is there. A couple of marque signings could turn us into a great one. Thought The Ox deserved to come on.

The Ox would be better off coming on when we have a comfortable scoreline. Games like today's will be too tight for breaking him in. The Manager needs to protect such talent.

Jingle bells ... jingle all the way. Oh, what fun it is to pick up 3, when The Arse and blueScum slip. Okay, listen up people, I have some rather important information for you. The first bit of info is the final commentary in The Guardian's (Norwich v Spurs) minute-by-minute report:

Full-time: In a week in which so many title pretenders toiled to draws, Spurs dispatch a valiant Norwich side in mightily impressive fashion: they look the only team capable of taking the Premier League crown from Manchester.
(feel free to read the report for yourself)

The second bit of information is, as we say in the intelligence business, a FYI only, and it is:
We at White Hart Lane (and not forgetting Vital Spurs) hereby accept the challenge, from of all Londoners, to be the flag bearers for London in the hunt of the Mancunians and in the hunt for the Premiership title

You have to listen to the scum, a little bit of advice wait till the end of the season before you brag. How many times have you slipped up on your big mouths. A (humble) pie is so much nicer if cooked properly. you have to come to the land of paradise our ground yet that will perhaps be the time when the pie will be served hot, little trolls.

Wrong I'm afraid, alwaysatosser. We aren't just going for the win at Ashburton Rubbish Dump. We want to hurt you, to humiliate you, to ABSOLUTELY DESTROY YOU INFRONT OF THE WORLD. And we will, because we know that whatever you do, or try, we can better it. This is gonna be messy, you will never be able to live down what's coming, never.
