'If It's Football, It's Vital'

King Henry II

The word "legend" is bandied around all too liberally in football these days, often with little thought to it`s meaning, but in Thierry Henry we have a bonafied Arsenal, Premier League and general footballing legend.

Thierry Henry helped lead Arsenal to many pieces of silverware in quite unbelievable style, and now he`s back to help Arsenal again, albeit in a somewhat more conservative role.

Thierry looks set to join Arsenal on a two month loan deal as the Frenchman seeks to find match fitness ahead of his new season in the USA and to lend a hand at Arsenal as we currently have only one fit striker who seems to be able to score goals.

There has been much discussion over the interwebs as to the pros and cons of the move, many believing that we shouldn`t go back and that those feeling positive about the loan spell are looking through rose tinted spectacles.

I think it`s a great move, if Henry is used correctly, and we continue to actively search (if not buy) a long term solution to our striking needs. Indeed, brining in a young forward along side Titi would allow a certain amount of bedding in time as the talisman takes up the slack.

There`s talk that Henry could feature in the FA Cup match against Leeds, again, a good decision if true. Thierry always enjoyed playing against the Yorkshire side and it could offer Robin van Persie a well earned rest.

One thing is for sure, there`s going to be quite a buzz around the club for the next few weeks.

Nervous. But yea, you cannot but help but feel excited.

I remain sceptical, but ***** it, welcome home Titi. Let's hope he can play some kind of role that's the best for all parties.

Its only for 2 months. Where can you go wrong? I dont understand the scepticism. The guy is a talisman. Even if Henry did nothing but stand in the centre circle he would inspire this team. I see nothing but positives.
Wyn Mills
If Tony Adams stood in the centre circle he'd probably do the same. Should we sign him too? Presence means nothing without the requisite quality. Sceptical cos I'm not sure Henry has it. Liverpool brought Fowler back in similar circumstances and it didn't work at all. But, let's see what happens, the manager obviously thinks he can help.
Little Dutch
I only have respect for Wenger on issues as this. If he took the decision, I am thinking just maybe, he knows what he is doing. Like someone said, we can't do worse than What we have available.

LD the dye is cast lets see where the chips fall. My faith in the worlds best manager remains steadfast. Rocky explain from from your managerial knowledge the comment (if Henry is used correctly). Do you have some inside information that the Boss may not use Titi properly? And I'm surprised at the comment (those feeling positive about the loan spell are looking through rose tinted spectacles). Talk about negatives before he's even signed the contract. Compared to the effort of Asharvin he's miles ahead without even kicking the bloody ball. LD there is a big difference between bringing back Adam and Titi one has continued to play football the other backpacked around Europe. Have faith in the manager who according to the brains was going to take us into relegation and the wonderful gutter press be thrown out as manager prove once more he is the master.

Like everyone else I am quite excited about TH14 sorry TH12 and I am hoping and praying like mad that it is a good move. I think he will bring out the best in paople like AA and Theo. In anycase I trust Wenger.

Would love to see him on the same pitch as Oxlade-Chamberalin. By the time Wilshere is Theirry's age, Jack's son will be almost as old as the Ox was when he made his Southampton debut...

I started watching Arsenal round about 2005 with Thierry in his all his pomp and immediately fell in love with his play. It's testament to his influence that I try that curl into the far corner he so executed to perfection every time I get an opportunity on the football pitch myself. He is THE role model for me and I can't say find words to say how excited I am to see him back in the Red and White. And if you do see MLS he doesn't seem to have missed a beat. Lost a bit of his pace and acceleration but he still influences games on a regular basis. That will keep him in good stead to become a good squad player filling in when required. Arsene knows, I think.

THERE'S ONLY ONE TERRY HENRY, OOONNNEE TERRY HENRY, WITH HIS WALKING STICK AND HIS ZIMMER FRAME TERRY HENRY'S S.H.A.T. HIMSELF AGAIN!!! (To the tune of Walking In A Winter Wonderland)
Tony Rocky Horror
Wasn't he born on exactly the same day as William Gallas? Seven years younger than Friedel too.

Exactly EB. Of course Henry may have lost some of his electric pace but I dont think he will have lost his guile. His ability to hold up the ball and release a killer pass will be undiminished. For gods sake he cant be any worse than Chamakh. Titi is a class act who at even 50% of his past ability is far better than many first choice strikers in the league. He will give 100% during his 2 months with us and will be off. Enjoy it while lasts and stop listening to the chavs up the road crapping themselves in fear.
Wyn Mills
Wenger will not use him unless absolutely essential, which means that Chamakh (if he can get permission) and Park will start against Leeds, with Henry on the bench. I cannot see Wenger using Henry to start any games, only as an option on the bench, and only if other attacking subs (like Benayoun / Arshavin) do not work. That is fine by me. This also gives the club some breathing space to go look for another striker with a long term perspective. Right now, we only have 3 strikers with RvP future a bit uncertain. Assuming a worst case scenario (given the past with Cesc / Nasri, that's not out of the realms of possibility), a striker signed now will have 6 months to acclimatize to the PL, and kick start next season on the run. If RvP does stay, it gives us 2 really good striking options then.
prits
Of course he's got QUALITY. He's still the CLEVEREST and most elegant player I've ever watched- if he still has his footballing brain and he still knows what direction the net's in, we're "quids-in." There are players in our squad who couldn't put the ball in the net, even if they had an hour of added time and nearly half the opposing team sent off. Henry has no such difficulty.
julieloveshenry4ever
a two month stay would make him available against man utd and the scum. im sure henry would relish a match against these two teams in particular, and i for one believe he could prove an invaluable addition for these matches. let us not forget, we NEVER lost against the scum with henry in the team, in fact during his entire arsenal tenure. im excited already....
