Vermaelen Looking For Squad Consistency

Vermaelen Looking For Squad Consistency

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen has expressed his desire for the current bunch of Arsenal players to be kept together for the coming years in order to create some solidarity.

It`s often been claimed that a lack of a consistent and stable team and back room staff can ultimately lead to struggles for a team (unless you have a very rich Sheik of course), and after losing one of the most talented Arsenal players of all time over the summer (along with a not-as-talented player and our longest serving player) Thomas Vermelan is hoping Arsene Wenger will be able to hold on to this current group for a while longer.

"If you can stick together for a long time as a group, then you can grow and get better and better, which you have seen over the past few weeks and months. If you can do that for the next few years, that would only be good," he told the club`s official website.

"Nowadays in football it is not easy to keep a group together and be with the same players for the next few years, but I hope we can manage that."

He has already made the commitment by signing a contract extension and it is down to the rest of the players to demonstrate the same.
