The decision to bring Thierry Henry back to North London has the Gooner opinion split straight down the middle.
Now let me start by saying you`d be hard pushed to find a single Gooner without a huge grin plastered to his, or her, face the instant the Frenchman steps back on the pitch for the first time since his departure, I think all Arsenal fans are happy to see him back in one way or the other.
However I`d hazard a guess that half the fans are not massively in favour of the move simply because they see it as a step backwards.
Many people stating it`s sentiment over ruling the head. Henry is much older than when he left, and he was already starting to waiver back then, and when you look at it that way it`s kinda hard to argue against it.
Then of course you have the fans who, according to the over half, are letting sentiment over take good sense. Again, even though I`m one of the "pro Henry" crowd, it`s difficult to disagree. I know full well that Thierry`s inclusion is slightly heightened by the fact we enjoyed so much success when he was here.
But ultimately the fans did not make the decision to resign Thierry.
We have to trust what the manager has seen in training over the last few weeks, he knows better than anyone the mentality of the striker.
Arsene Wenger has forgotten more about football this week than most of us will learn in a lifetime. "Le Boss" doesn`t work using sentiment, he makes decisions based on what is right for the club, and he`s proved it time and time again.
Of course sometimes these decisions don`t work, but that`s the same with any manager signing players for any club. There`s always an element of risk.
It`s clearly obvious that Henry isn`t a long term solution to our striking problems, so as long as Wenger is actively searching for players to improve our squad then Henry coming home is completely risk free.
