'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Arteta Proud To Take Captains Armband

Mikel Arteta has said that captaining Arsenal against Leeds last night was an 'unbelievable' honour.

Speaking to arsenal.com after the 1-0 win, the midfielder said.

'It was really pleasing for me to be captain for a club like Arsenal, it's unbelievable. I just want to thank my team-mates for the effort, my manager for the support and hopefully we can build on this and win against Swansea.'

Arteta knows we should have put Leeds to the sword more convincingly than we did, and he's called on the team to be more incisive in future games and make life easier for us.

One of the signings of the season already. Keep it up Mikel.

I can't disagree with you Sajit. If you remove the clearly obvious choice of Robin van Persie I'd say Arteta has been our player of the season so far. A complete class act, a true professional who allows other players to induldge in their flights of fancy with his graft and guile. Perfect choice for captain when Rob or the Verminator aren't in town.
