Wenger - Wake Up And Focus

Such a simple instruction from the manager, but something we desperately need to act on.

Speaking to following our second successive away defeat, the manager said.

'That's now twice where we have given the game away. At our level that is frustrating and not good enough. It's down to a lack of composure and the right decision making. It really is a concern. We have given 6 points away in the last two games in a way that is unbelievable. It is time for us to wake up and be focused.'

Wenger is expecting a reaction against Man U and he's looking for us to take all 3 points to make up on lost ground.

But just in case you drift off again then be like Arsene and wear your duvet when out and about.

...Not if we can get back the form of October-November. A few returnees and we can be stronger.

OT- It will seem Newcastle is besting Arsenal in scouting for effective French & African players, these days. With Demba Ba and Pa***** Cisse, the Geordies will be a very dangerous offensive side.....and we still have to play them at home, 4 days after playing CL v Milan. Mhmmm.

The chairman doesn't seem to care how well we do as long as the money rolls in, so what sort of message does that send to the players? Wenger knows he has a job for life even if he gets us relegated, and a lot of players that he thinks are better than they are put in lackadaisical shifts every other match and still start the next one. Djourou has been talking big about winning the match against MU, but why wouldn't he, he's one of the mediocre players Wenger should have sold years ago but has been protected instead.

Elbondo, I think he probably doesn't see why he should pile on the pressure when the team doesn't seem to be able to cope with it. Let Wenger do that.

As for the likes of JD talking up our prospects vs United, I have come to see that he tends (along with Theo) to speak too soon; some players talk up games and you know you can expect they will give everything on the day. Not these two. They need to allow their game do the talking, really.

I still think its gonna go to the wire for those CL places. We have 8 extremley hard fixtures coming up and after those we could be neck and neck again, with Chelsea & Liverpool around and abouts too. If we do well in Feb then who knows what we could achieve, but i dont count Arsenal out of the CL yet at all, despite your glaring weaknesses. If Wenger went and bought Hazard, Samba & Mvia then you'd have some squad. Thankfully AW won't despite your healthy financial position, and youre looking good for 5th. Still i'm hoping Man Utd beat you on Sunday & im certainly looking down not up

I agree HY I think it will be tight for 3-6. It is also correct that we have had the harder run so far. I think we'll do it....but I thought we would've bought a striker by now so I may be wrong again.

Extremely surprised that Arsenal haven't stuck in a bid for Nedum Onuhoa given your spate of injuries at the back. He can play at either full back or in the centre, is comfortable on the ball and is very pacey. The reason he's not getting games for us is because he had a huge bust-up with mancini (oh, and there was the little matter of getting Gary Cook sacked). If rumours are to be believed he's only on 40k per week at City, and he's available for C 3m. Seems strange that Arsene would allow a player like that to go to QPR. Thoughts?

wake up arsenal management. the fans deserve more! arsenal pre-tax profit for the past 5 years: 56 mil (2010) + 45.5 mil (2009) + 36.7 mil (2008) + 5.6 mil (2007) + 15.9 mil (2006) = 159.7 total reserve sitting in bank as of financial year 2010 = 255.3 mil (source: arsenal's largest shareholders net worth: stan kronke & spouse = 4.2 bil (forbes 2011) alisher usmanov = 11.4 bil (forbes 2011) total = 15.6 bil man u's largest shareholder net worth malcolm glazer & family = 1.7 bil (forbes 2011) chelsea's largest shareholder net worth roman abramovich = 8.6 bil (forbes 2011) man city's largest shareholder net worth sheikh mansour = 4.9 bil (forbes 2009) (various estimation range from 4.9 bil - 33 bil) *all denomination in gp

rvp (2.75 mil). strikers behind him: chamakh (free), park (2 mil), bendtner (<250 k probably), vela (125 k). rvp was a good catch, no doubt but we weren't be so lucky all the time and we can't afford to waste another 6-7 seasons testing our luck. what happened to the promise to rvp that he would be playing along with world class players & challenging for titles? the season ends in 4 months and rvp contract will be left with 12 months then. anyone dares to take a wager he will sign?

we are not demanding the club to spend the billionaires money, but over 255 mil sitting in the bank. hazard is vying to leave. he has been an arsenal fan. we have been monitoring him for at least 3 years. we know the price. we needed a good winger. chelski & mu already made the move. why not make a move to reignite our top 4 race? because we can't afford?

Joe, have the seasons really been wasted? And (repeating myself, I know) if we'd blown 50,000,000 on Fernando Torres, would we be a better side?

'why not make a move for hazard' - we probably have/will. If not, there could be many reasons; exceeding the players' wage budget (perhaps planning to shift Andrey to make space for him first?); maybe he doesn't fancy playing for Arsenal any more; maybe he's waiting for PSG or ManCity to offer him 300k/wk? Who knows? but it's dangerous to presume that nothing is being done, in the absence of facts.

it's a fair game. we may get a torres or an aguero. ultimately we run the risk of losing, rvp, the only world class player left in the team. it was the same promise they sold to fab. i am not advocating to spend crazy money but it is so evident that the team are so short of quality. if the recent results were anything to go by, we are gonna the top 4 race. effectively, it seems to me that we are more willing to lose a few more games until our fullbacks are back or lose the season should rvp (god forbids) get injured. we have this january window now to mitigate the risk but nevermind, we already have some ready made excuses should our season falls apart

10 days and the window closes. Without a rejuvenating offensive signing like we Arshavin a few seasons ago, we won't get fourth. The top four is also a lot more competitive this season, if we don't make CL spots this season then I'm pretty confident we can bounce back next season in the same way Spurs are doing now. Spurs form this season is partly due to them getting to play their strongest team in the league, and resting players in Europe.
