Wenger Bags Eisfeld

Borussia Dortmund have parted company with their talented attacking midfielder Thomas Eisfeld.

The 19 year old has joined Arsenal on a long term contract today after catching the eye of our scouts and manager.

He's an attacking midfielder by trade, but is said to be highly versatile and has already featured at youth level for the German national team and has captained their U15 side.

Speaking to after completing the paperwork, the youngster said.

'I feel very proud to have signed for Arsenal. This is a great club, with many great players and I'm so happy to be joining. It's a real honour to be team mates with the great players, and also training everyday with players like Tomas Rosicky who I grew up watching at Dortmund.'

Arsene Wenger said of the capture.

'Thomas is a player we have liked for some time. We've watched him closely this season, where he excelled for Dortmund's youth team. He is young but has proven that he can play, that he has the attitude and technical ability to be a valuable addition in the coming seasons.'

Basement bargain deals again. :). Look I really hope he does well at Arsenal. .But I just cannot but help but laugh at the irony of it all.

Wishing Eisfeld well. Diaby better come back strong from injury now that Wilshere is out for the season.

Delta - Why so he can come on the pitch and give the ball away 15 times a game? Diaby is far from our saviour. And i gotta agree with you Sajit, this is not the transfer we needed.

Ok, so he wasn't the PL striker we thought we were going to get or the LB/RB we needed. But how many people are happy we signed an 18 year old OX? I think we knew we were going to be priced out of Hazard now that Chelsea are in and Gotze value will rise during the Euros so to buy this guy now and give him time to settle and gel in time for next season is very savvy.

we are not going to be priced out. we have 255 mil sitting in the bank. we can get both hazard & gotze if we want. sometimes i think arsenal fans can be best described as people who are willing to pay the price of dining in e bulli but get the value meal of mcd because we are proud of the money mcd has in the bank

kroenke & usmanov's combined wealth is only second to citeh's sheikh in pl. as applied to all willing investors, they must assumed a certain risk for their investment. not just walk in with the stadium's debt safely secured with bond and hundreds of million in the bank. even that, we are only asking the club to spend the money we earned by enduring the trophyless years for our fight against the tide for a cl spot now. until one fine day when the stadium is paid off, they may just decide to sell the club for a hefty profit to people like glazer and put us in deep debt. then, there goes our boastful story of 'healthy finance' and 20 trophyless years

I think, deep down, we all knew Wenger won't buy who we want or think the team needs. Something we've got to start getting used to under Wenger's watch.

He's already adapted to the Arsenal way- played the first half in a reserves match and picked up an injury- knee, supposedly minor, so we'll see him in a year.
