Gibbs Could Feature Against AC Milan

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says Kieran Gibbs could start against AC Milan at the San Siro on Wednesday night.

The Gunners have been playing with a makeshift defence for most of the season, having to make do with four centre-backs across the back line due to injuries for Sagna, Jenkinson, Gibbs and Santos.

Things were looking brighter on the injury front with Sagna returning to action and Gibbs back on the bench, however the injury to centre back Per Mertesacker at the weekend may force Wenger`s hand tomorrow night.

The good news however is that Arsene thinks Gibbs is ready both physically and mentally.

'To be a player is to come in and show how good you are when you get your chance,' said the manager. To the club`s official website

'I believe physically and mentally he is ready. But if I start him, which is not decided yet, I do not want to put too much pressure on him because we want a good team performance. Gibbs is a good player."

'I will find the most natural [solution], which means I will put Vermaelen back in the middle. Gibbs looks to be ready so I might look to start him but I have not decided completely yet.'

Four specialist full-backs out with long-term injuries at the same time. How freaky is that?
