You get the sense that Wenger boosts these players up so much they start to believe they're good as Barca, when they're evidently not.

We have shown inexperience and a lack of fight tonight. Almost overawed by the occasion. Midfield was poor and tentative; we were so predictable and were never dangerous until some parts of the 2nd half. This is not good as I don't see a way back here...at least, not with this lot.

Wenger has learned absolutely ziltch from the past. Everyone knew pace was the best way to get past this Milan team. But he has packed his midfield with plodders. Skillful plodders, but plodders all the same. We looked far more dangerous when the Ox came on, but by then the damage had already been done, and our patched up defence with Djourou stumbling over himself was never going to keep it tidy. But it really is in midfield that we have serious problems. We're lightweight and uncommitted, and to be honest we no longer belong in the competition.

Don't know what you guys see in Song tbh kepp hearing gooners calling him "World Class" he looks ace against poor teams at home and he has all the tricks. But he gets constantly owned in midfield against decent opposition. Kevin Prince Boateng just destroyed him, he wouldnt make our bench. He'd be good with a proper DM next to him, but he's not a DM! Reminds me of when we used to play Jenas as a holding player when we were awful.

Wenger got the tactics all wrong + a few of the players were dreadful. He didn't use speed on the flanks, actually had nobody that I could see on the left aside from Gibbs in the first half, so Milan plugged the middle and forced all our play to the vortex that is Walcott. What was supposed to be Henry's triumphant swan song turned out to be a painful illustration of how far we have fallen since he last played for us. We needed the Ox wide left from the get-go to spread the play a bit. We easily could have done without Ramsey doing the same thing as Rosicky but poorly.

Alwaysgunner, the performance tonight was awful and you have to allow for some venting. This team doesn't have what it will take to overturn this scoreline and take the tie. I will like to be wrong, of course.

major deficiencies observed: 1) forgetting how to defend as a team. remember 8-2? the way we defended against milan, that was close. rosicky & walcott did not tracked back often enough. walcott should double up with sagna against ibrahimovic but he was no where to be seen. ramsey, song & arteta played high line defending to disastrous effect. the midfield layer of defense was breached so easily because milan game was very direct. they tried to get to ball to either boetang, ibrahimovic or robinho in probably less than 5 passes each time they attacked. just when our midfielders were trying to close down them from their half, the ball has already arrive to their forwards in a direct long pass. 2) impotent wingers. walcot, as usual. sagna could not support much as ibrahimovic was breathing down his neck the whole game. rosicky, why was he playing as winger? 3) side way passing. as usual, 57% possessions for nothing. i hope the team understand that the most dangerous attack is when the opponents are backtracking. then is when they get wrong footing and disoriented in defense. to force them to backtrack, we have to play more direct forward passing once we win the ball and we have to make more off ball movements. make ourselves available in front of the passer, not beside or behind of him or worst, hiding behind an opponent. we are always 3 passes more than we should have before the final pass. that is more than enough time for the opponent to settle their defense. remember how denilson used to one of the chart toppers in pl in terms of number completed pass? we are having more chart toppers now i suppose. it's an inherent problem for the last 6-7 years. not sure if it is in the tactic or the players

They scored four (fairly fortuitous) goals, but the reason they got them was that they had a good amount of the ball and were able to counter us consistently and well. We're the Arsenal. Why would we be worried? We have a new shiny home, not a urine soaked cowshed. We've rarely finished outside the top of the premier league. Despite the current mess that won't change this season. We've got work to do but it'll be done. Then we'll see where we are. What short fix players are we currently seeing in a THfc shirt that are an extortionate cost to the club??. Parker at £5mil & is being spoken of by every pundit in the land as "the transfer of the season".. Friedel was FREE, and has proven to be excellent. Saha was FREE, Nelsen was FREE... Adebayor is on loan, and costing us no more than any other top player at our club.. ONLY Friedel, Saha & Nelsen can be described as 'old' in footballing terms, with parker pushing them close. But apart from those aforementioned players + King & Gallas, I'm fairly sure that we don't have a single player above the age of 30. But we have Dawson & Caulker to take the place of King & Gallas. We have Sandro to take the place of Parker, and we have whichever striker comes in in summer, to replace Saha. Though we could of course make Ade's signing permanent aswell. So YES, we really imagine we're building a team to dominate the league for years to come. I believe your manager was doing the same with 'kids' for the last 10 years or so. How's that going again?? lol

No player is FREE, as you know. Wages have to be paid. And taking about stupid money, hasn't Adebayor hinted that money will be a significant factor in any permanent move? Better get ready to splash over 170k on the greedy fecker. Parker, Freidel, Saha, VDV and Nelsen - all short term fixes reaching the end of their careers. Modric and Bale will be off to 'bigger clubs' (VDV's words, not mine) in no time at all. As we all know Twitchy will be stepping off the stone that is Spurs into the England job. On top of that you have a £400m stadium to finance. I think Levy has a lot of thinking to do.

VDV has JUST (5 days ago) turned 29 man lol. Adebayor = A player that a fair few of us THFC supporters aren't overly concerned about making a permanent signing. Many of us feel we could get better value for such money. Still reckon that'll be Leandro Damiao ;-).. You say about Modric & Bale being off to other clubs, and then use the words of VDV from last summer. We're a somewhat different picture to look at now ;-).. Most of the financing for the stadium will be done via naming rights. That'll be £200mil, and you're forgetting that Parker is the only money we've paid out for transfers in at least the last 3 or 4 windows. Yet we have about 10 players to sell on aswell. Redknapp won't be hard to replace, and there will be few managers who aren't interested in joining what is being described as 'the most exciting team in the country' (not by us deluded supporters, but by almost everybody in the game). Just imagine if Harry's replacement is somebody with actual 'pulling power'. You'll be even more gutted than you currently are. But as I said in my previous response to you, Parker, Saha, Nelsen, Gallas, King.. they ALL have replacements ready to step in already. So altoughh they may be short term answers, the long term replacements are already aboard the good ship Tottenham. God it's good to be a Yiddo :-)..

My god, that was an awful performance! The only thing the players can do to redeem a ***** poor performance is to win the return leg at all costs. A 1-0 or 2-0 win with a solid defensive performance will go a small way in restoring some pride. I feel sorry for LD and the other gooners who travelled all the way to Milan to see such crap.
