'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Anyone Else Feel Sick?

I don`t think I stand alone when I say I`m not a fan of North London Derby day.

Arsenal vs. Tottenham is probably the best derby match in English football. Whilst most derbies are over-hyped, cagey affairs, the NLD rarely disappoints in terms of action. However, for me personally, the feeling of tension far outweighs any possible enjoyment I can garner from this fixture.

Sure, like everyone else, I go mental when we score, and when we win, but ultimately, the overwhelming feeling is one of relief. Relief that the fixture is over, and we came through it unscathed. And that for a few more months at least, we don`t need to suffer that sickly feeling in our stomachs.

This year however, that feeling of nausea has been multiplied tenfold. Spurs are having their best season in living memory, whilst we, a mere two places below them, are having our worst.

The North London derby today takes on extra meaning, not only is it NLD, not only is it another 3 points to win or lose, not only is it a chance to take back 4th place from Chelsea, but this game becomes our last chance to mount a charge to try and topple Spurs.

If we lose today then there is no chance we can catch Tottenham, and whilst it`s true that even if we win it would still be unlikely, the mounted pressure we put on them as they undertake a number of tricky fixtures could prove vital.

We must win today, for all the reasons listed, but most of all, so I can stop feeling ill.

So this is what it feels like to be a Spurs fan eh? I`m not sure how you put up with it all these years.

Yes. Cant we just call it a draw and all be content?
no your not on your own rocky
Over the past couple of years, Spuds have kept their best players and brought in decent players to add to the squad; over the same time we have sold our best players and have brought in inadequate replacements, and not added to the squad depth at all. Now THAT makes me feel sick. That said, we'll win today and start the Spuds on their long overdue descent down the table.
Not much to worry about,we all know the real truth about the this Arsenal side
i feel like dancing
Cape Town Spurs
Shall we dance CTS?
Disgusting dive from Bale, we should be well ahead in the game by now.
yes they had to dive to get their second goal, what a shame
Some 1st half that.
That was a blatant dive by Jug ears. Well, with Dean as ref, you would expect him to give it against us won't you? I am not fooled by the rash of yellow cards issued to Spurs players (he evened things out eventually) as I know he will be looking to give out a red to one of ours as soon as we look on top.
Theo can be frustrating and Song started too slowly, only growing into the occasion late on. A driving force for our team, at the moment. A good decision to play Benny today; a wise old head with experience and creative abilities. Vermaelen is not having a good game but I think he will get stronger. The Ox for Theo will make a huge difference and late on, Gervinho in. Let's keep the faith.
The changes they have made suggest they want to keep things tight and maybe, catch us on the break.
rosickys first goal since 1986
Walcott!!! love the look on Bungpuss's face!!
Well, what do you know. I take it all back Theo!!!!
Modric should have been sent off and their second goal shouldn't have counted. We should be winning this by a greater margin really.
who are you and what have you done with our Arsenal????
Congratulations to you lot today.
Total knobhead
does anyone think ac milan can crumble like the spuds did today? can they also fall apart and be tossed into the dust bin?
cape town spurs?? Did you fall over dancing and lose consciousness?
I warned you, puddies! "Better man for man", my boot laces!
Great performance today...and that's all we ask for, really! Now, it is sqeaky bum time for Spurs.
that was excellent. I thought we would win and pull back level on points with Chelsea but still be behind on GD- who thought Spuds were this inept and we'd actually match the goal diff. that Chelsea got over Bolton? Wow, a great game for Gunners, neutrals, basically anybody but a Spud. Love it!!!
Yeah; and just the right margin to go above Chelsea.
2 nil and they .... looks like we knocked them out of the title race too.
Few better feelings on earth than oleing the filth. Immense from the boys in red & white. Cape town sp*rs dancing is the mopey indie boy shuffling dejectedly in the corner. Love it love it love it.
YYEAAAAAHHHH!!! Sick? I feel estatic!!!!

I think I can get used to playing the spuds and being the "under dog".
Surely the tension didn't outweigh that pleasure??
When rosicky scored it depressed me as I knew then I was dreaming and would surely wake up to find out the game hadn't started yet & KO was imminent.
Not bad
*****.. This meant soooo much to me.. Thank you Arsene and Arsenal. Im almost in tears.
It makes it sweeter that we've probably extinguished their title hopes.
Wyn Mills
Title race lol, noone seriously believed they wouldn't bottle that did they?? '61 Never Again isn't just a hopeful mantra it's a stone cold fact.
Now, the VA site needs emissaries to the VS site; just to pay back the compliments. Niko must be one of them , for sure. Hahahaha!
I have never EVER posted on their site, but after all the crap Ive had to endure off them this season!..... I think this calls for a special occasion :)
Well done today, you deserved that. It reminded me of when you went to OT and lost 8-2 where you just kept bombing forward. While I'm still in shock at Redknapps tactics today you guys fully deserved it, a massive wake up call for us. If you beat Liverpool then it really is squeaky bum time.
Great game from the team; special mention to Rosicky who was the sort of creative force we have been missing. Gibbs & Bac looked good too and it makes a real difference to have them back. Stand up all those who have said that Theo can finish, very happy for him.

ha ha HA! Eat it 'Arry, eat it! Makes it sweeter that even though we are having our worst season for a while, we are just 7 behind Spurs and Liverpool can't touch us. Plus the fact we dumped the scum from North London out of the title! Gooner till I die!
e dubbz
Was impressed with the way we harried and hassled Spurs off the ball in all areas of the pitch - not our usual game so I wonder if this is different approach ?
Wot, no spurs trolls today?
Odd that their goals were soft - defection & a dive to win the pen but I still thought we were opened up too easily at the back and TV had another shocker. The turning point for me was Parkers yellow card: without him being allowed to charge in on people with his normal gay abandon he was pretty useless. All I wanted from this game was a good performance, this result is just what can happen when these players we have play to their ability.

Football...its a funny old game, eh?
Wyn Mills
Always thought Parker was massively over hyped tbh. Only ever bigged up by English ex players that love nothing better than seeing other limited English players haring about like a dog chasing a frisbee & flying into mindless tackles. Song (who was blinding today) is easily several cuts above.
Now come on Cardiff, knock some confidence out of the scouse and their grouchy sweaty dwarf of a manager before next week please!
i bet you feel better now rocky :) well done guys your players really wanted that and we didnt turn up plus i feel i must apologise for bales diving he thinks hes ronaldo at the moment hopefully this result will wake them up again congrats
hats off to you. fully deserved the win. we did an arsenal and thought it was won at 0-2
best team won - we didn't show the 'want' to win. Rosicky was your best player. Your midfield was overpowering we couldn't cope playing so narrow with a 442 formation (WTF).
Boy that humble pie must be sticking in the scums throats. Faith and belief we took them over our knees and slapped their lilly white bottoms and made them cry. Well done lads well done. Now who are the Kings of north London?
Looking at spurs' next three fixtures we could well see a tasty crumble sitting cooling on our window sill come the end of March. Not over yet, far far from over. If we could pull this around and still finish above the swamp dwellers then I'd have to do a Wenger and consider that a trophy lol.
Come on cardiff!
Midfield was unrecognisable today. Hassling and harrying for the ball like they were doing earlier in the season. I thought Benayoun, Arteta and Rosicky played blinders. Thats the spirit we've been missing! More of the same please lads!! Oh...and how priceless watching Adebaywhore's smile fade as the goals started racking up.
Wyn Mills
There were 12 in the bed and the twitchy one said rollover rollover.
I'd have to say sitting on the bench like some pink inflatable scrotum that Redknapp looked fairly taxed today, fairly taxed.
So they all rolled over and Bale dived out.
Wyn Mills
rosicky has got to deserve some player of the month recognition of sort. even when we had our worse games, he would still be the one keep running & pushing forward. he's got to be our most direct player. the first thing he does when he receives a pass is always to dribble pass a player or two or look for a quick forward pass. that's the way we should attack. we can only disorient the opponent's defense when they are back-tracking
That's the Sp*rs we know and love ( laugh to at). Considering all the ***** we've been through lately boy am I gong to enjoy this :-)
Agreed Joe, Rosicky was the player we all had hoped we always hoped he would be today & ast few outings he's been hinting at a surge in form, just shows what a player he can be if fitness is sustained.
Wow What a Game! Brilliant just Brilliant! I'm Buzzing! Well Done The Arsenal!
Rosicky was immense! Can't believe he's 30+. Well good thing we showed those noisy neighbours that the spuds will forever remain in our shadows. At 2-2, you could see the look on the Spurs fans faces: shock, fright and defeat. This was a brilliant game by the lads. Feel like watching it all over again and relive all the excitement. Well done Gunners.
yep and welcome Guy, bout time we had some new blood here!
Sooooooooo happy! Now where's the DVD? :-D
Rosicky was immense today; ran himself to the ground and was at the head of the harrying force in our midfield. Loved it when RvP took about 4 Spurs players on a merry dance in the middle and still came away with the ball. Confidence just seared through the team after that and you just knew there could be only one victor.

This is a dress rehearsal for how to play against the Milan midfield (bar the concession of goals) and how to attack their defense with confidence. Come on you Gunners!!!
Oh dear! Now, we've lost Vermaelen and Rosicky for the next game, at least. There had to be some casulaties from such a performance.
High 5-2 the boys and AW! A never say die performance and a reminder of how far a strong will can take our ability. Proud of the lads!
Saw what you did there DF. Good one too ;-)
Awesome result and a great comeback! Now the team has to build on this (didn't we say that after the Chelsea game as well?)
Thank u Nico. And NaijaGunner, I think with the internationals approaching, Le Boss is making these players unavailable. Losing Verm and in form Rosicky to injuries sustained in some irrelevant friendlies is a bitter pill to swallow. And Le Boss has had his fair share of bitter pills this season.
Ssssshh. Don't say it out loud, Guyfox.
Oops... Pardon me. Was kinda high at the time. We'll put the lid on this one, firmly.
